Next relic update in 2.38.

I don't mind grinds so much as long they're at least interesting to some degree. I've almost completed my first myth book - which has been fun for the most part. But doing 9 of these for 1 weapon is a tad repetitive - if not uninspired.

At the rate coil drops weapon for certain people and jobs, relic is the faster option.

Not really. Now with your atma gone, myth is your "cockblock" in your animus questline. Typically I can complete my book within a day itself and I don't have enough myth for the next book. Given that Alexendrite and the daily quest that gives you one Alex map per day is more than 75 days ago, you should already have enough Alexendrite to burst through the Novus part.

You need a weapon for doing coil which is why I did relic. Saying you should drop your relic and get HA isn't right at all. I killed T9 many times and it hasn't dropped. You can't just go in and get HA its very much left up to RNG its a 1 in 9 chance once a week. Odds are high you might not even get your weapon before 2.4 is out. 2 people in my FC never saw their weapon drop from T5 before 2nd coil was out. We are having way worse luck with T9 so many of the same weapons keep droping.

Can you do daily quest for alexandrite without having animus weapon? I got atma weapon but i can't get map from auriana and i can't start daily quest for it. I got 2/9 books and i really don't want to finish it, just want to farm alex for ninja weapon.

Nope. You need that animus to start the quest in North Shroud which will allow you to pick up that daily alex quest from Mor Dhona.

Oh well, O_O I'll just deal with it, and at least I'll have a goal in my ff14 life :)
And yes i finished the book in a day - being a dps, getting into dungeons is slow, so after work I need to do another rulette for the last 100 myths i'm missing for the second book.

Going to be 1 out of 10 come October so I will most definitely do relic lol. I beat coil 9 twice (still young) War and PLD weapons drop. Knowing my luck I probably won't see the Scholar book because I beat T5 plenty of times and haven't seen it once. So it might be the same

For all the grinding I did for the other upgrades they should just give it to me and I make no apologies for that train of thought.

WHAT!? I love the antenna! maybe if during the "charging of the spell" phase of our casts it would have a "sucking aether from your surroundings" animation, which is what I think is supposed to be the intent of the little doodad.

I was ignoring the relic at first, doing the alexandrite farm veeery casually. Then after 12+ T9 clears and no scholar books (and me still using a level 100 weapon, 'cause I don't like the soldiery book) I decided to rush and complete my Novus in order to have at least a decent weapon for the future update. I wish SQUEX gave a token instead of a direct drop for T9 weapons. My team has 2 players with 3 weapons and 3 players with no weapon at all. We got 5x blackmage staffs, 2x axes, 2x spears, 1x bow, 2x monk weapons (with no monks in our static).

So 4 out of 8 players are still missing their mainjob weapon (Paladin, Scholar, Summoner, White Mage).

I will finish coil for completion sake, but I won't farm it. No point. Work on relic line, which will keep upgrading, and just update gear every 20 iLv or so and its enough to do all content. until they hit a level cap that is actually going to last a while, not much point in wasting time trying to have all BiS just for it to be outdated every couple months.

Coil give many other loots as well. Why not? Daily clears are pretty much a 1-1.5hr kind of thing depending on how much derps happen.

Spiritbond your Novus weapon to 100% - creating such a strong bond with your weapon that is essential to further its growth.

And guess what? IL110 gears only spiritbind in SCoB.

I made my Novus the week right before Patch 2.3 and so far it is only 28% spiritbonded

Don't pat yourself on the back too hard yet. This 'Soul Attunement' may sound similar, but it is not the same as Spiritbinding. The existence of the Zodiac Glass confirms that much at least.
I might give your Crystal Ball 75% accuracy, because I'd guarantee that a person can get Nexus without setting foot in second coil. Soul Attunement may not even be measured in %. Too early to tell.

Or it could be the exact same thing as Spiritbinding, except allowing credit from activities lower than what would give credit for Spiritbind progress, and they added the Zodiac Glass just to 'distinguish' the feature unnecessarily.

But of course Zodiac being an open to all weapon, it can't naturally be the case. So it must be able to "bond" in other ways, which we will see when the server is up. :p

If Second Coil turns out to give the best 'Attunement' I'm going to have a tough challenge in convincing my static to spam the T7 elevator to try and finish it this week.
Assuming that there isn't a cap to how much attunement can be gained from any particular activity, and we're forced to utilize various methods, which according to
the patch notes:

"A weapon’s soul attunement level will rise by a set amount determined by the activity being performed. This amount, however, may increase each time a certain period of time passes. Thus sharing information with other players will be invaluable in planning the most efficient method of attunement."

I have no idea how to exactly interpret this :(
Maybe this means harder activities will reward more attunement, and easier activities like open world content will be worth garbage to start off, and the more weeks that pass since you started the Nexus, the more credit that content will be worth?

Are you the only chap in your static that has Novus?

IDK if they don't want to spam T7, then try to push back T7 to weekends or something if possible.

I think I might have little luxury here since my static disbanded and I have been a free agent for the past 3 weeks - I could just create PF to recruit like minded people to spam attunement together. :p

How do you guys read it with the Update to Nexus? Is it an OPTION to allow us to rebuild the stats on it or is it a MUST HAVE? Can I just "harmonize" my weapon and have a 115 weapon or do I need 75 Alexandrites on the way again? Or are each individual stats different now so for example instead of +44 Crit, you now can put + 50 or something in that range on it and "only" have to add the additional points with Alexandrites? The patch notes are yet again a Riddle lol.

We'll find out for certain soon enough. If this is the case, a crit/det relic will still be BiS for stat weights, but we'll see materia prices for Savage Might IV come back down to more reasonabe levels since Determination won't be 'breaking' relic stat weights permanently.
