Yeah I'm guessing even if the 5th chest is found all it will give is the gimp weapons like the other 3.
Hoping I'm wrong though.
5th chest is in 1.19 obv.
Has anyone tried, once you have Batraal activated, having one person return to the entrance and searching all through the dungeon for a possible 7th chest that might spawn the 5th chest when you down Batraal?

- Maybe the 5th chest only spawns if Batraal (or the ogre) is killed in the first X minutes
- Maybe the 5th chest only spawns if Batraal (or the ogre) is killed in the last X minutes
- Maybe the 5th chest only spawns if you don't pick any other chests during the run
- Not activating any circle during the Batraal fight (if it's possible to win that way, of course)
- Going back to the first area and checking if something changed AFTER going to the 2nd area or the Captain's Quarters

Aha, looks a lot like my ls ;\ I think Canopus Shield & Bill are now a rot items.......funny though, from probably 30 runs or so, we've only seen 1 Claret Coif (not that is a bad thing, such a bad head item w). We "half-assed" an attempt at no one being hit by any of the eyes, but someone screwed up on the 2nd eye. We'll probably give it a serious attempt tonight, if not this weekend. As for Batraal hitting the eyes, we haven't tried that. It was one of our more farfetch'd ideas, but hey, why not try anyways! lol
How about killing the the ghost around the boss in the orger fight. Then mabe the ghost drop a item to start those switchs in the captains room, how about killing all the ghost in batraal room too.
Have anyone tried something with the different winds coming out of the blue circles ?
Also, if anyone still have the quest in their journal in game, maybe there is some hint about that. Specifically about the mysterious energy floatting around, how it is affected by the different winds and all. Unfortunately I rushed those quests and now I completed them all, so I can't re-read the storyline summary anymore.
Maybe we can desactivate the lanterns in the captain's room thanks to the winds. There's also a fire just before the first teleport, I heard it is not always here. There probably is something to search here.
That's what we've been thinking, at least.

have you tried making sure all 3 of batraal's ring are down when he dies?
Our last run last night we got every chest, killed the ogre at the 45 minute mark, cleared the choco and drake room, no one ever got hit by any eye, popped Batraal before the 30 mark and killed before the 20 mark and not one person died. So the no death and no eye contact we disproved. Also on the run before we cleared all large rooms and side tunnels looking for placeholders to no avail.
Our next attempts consist of clearing all specific mob types per run, using Batraal to debuff the eyes and sending someone to the captains quarters mid fight to look for possible nodes.

Has anyone considered that maybe its like trying to get that one spear in ffxii? Maybe you shouldnt open any chests at all until after Batraal to see if the final chest pops.
At this point, I am inclined to also think that the spawn condition for the last chest is 1.19.

We ran it last night:
No deaths AND no hits by AOE (even on the boss)
No 5th chest.
Now what....
Has anyone tried to incap the ogre's Tail ?
Its pretty obvious . . . you need to be decked in full Templar gear and have the finishing blow using a Verdant weapon. . . .
Duh.
yea ok only one problem with that the final templar piece is not verdant and you should be able to do it on the first run before ever getting a verdant weapon.
Stop Trolling if its that obvious why did your post not have a screen shot showing the 5th chest on the screen ?
We can confirm it has nothing to do with the time as we had 3-5min left on the timer and we got 4 chests on Batraal. Portal to the choco stables killed mobs inside + only kill the drakes in the drake room and run out. Grab all chests.. We also make sure to touch all the lanterns. I still have a feeling it has something to do with the lanterns.. Has anyone backtracked and check every area to the beginning after touching the lanterns?
Was talking with some of the JP shells on Cornelia since I think that's all who we can talk to on our server about the mechanics, but it sounds like no one in the JP community (the forums) even knows how to pop it. Some strongly believe it has to do with the lantern thingies in the Captains Quarters, but they don't know how to feed them aetheryte energy.
We're going to be focusing on a Tank heavy setup for Batraal in the next 1~2 days to get a kill where no skeletons are killed. We'll post our findings after its completed.
Can you use an item or a spell on them?
(I remember back during beta when I came across one of those unlit campfires, tried to cast fire on it, and frowned when nothing happened)
Here's another lol idea:
- Have at least 7 players on different classes (IE: have all battle disciplines on the team, plus one repeated class)
