Isn't "everyone can marriage 1 person" not already equal rights?
So long everyone have the same restriction it is equal. Or is there a player in the game that can marriage multiple players while the other players can't?

Its a game.... seriously the demands for equality in this game is getting old. Since they are allowing SSM, the devs only have themselves to blame and must meet every request demanded. Oh wait, this isn't exactly a Final Fantasy so anything goes. All in the name of equality in an online game. Next patch this will be Second Final Fantasy Life. That said, if a Hyur can marry a Miqo'te, Then they are allowing beastiality by default?
(hey guys)
(I think OP might be making a little bit of a joke)
Slightly off topic but:
big·ot noun \ˈbi-gət\
: a person who strongly and unfairly dislikes other people, ideas, etc.
I love that society uses this word to demonize people. I guarantee there is at least ONE thing that everyone strongly dislikes that might be a little unfair. You can call EVERYONE a bigot. Just because someone doesn't agree with your choices it MAY make them a bigot because "fairness" is a subjective concept. What does this mean? You think someone is a bigot? So what... we ALL are.
Because I dislike something, it doesn't mean that it's unfair. I doubt there is a single person in the world who likes everything. If I dislike something, unless I say I "strongly" dislike it, nobody can judge how much I dislike it. Maybe in this generation the word has lost some of its strength, but from my generation's point of view it is a VERY strong, derogatory term, and an offensive insult to boot....and it WILL make any sympathy I had for a person's situation, dissipate ;)
This can’t be a series post. I hope the OP was joking, because this is getting way out of hand.
I'm guessing the next demand will be to be able to become pregnant of your loved one in game...
Why have FCs when we can have harems? All dem Nunhs need fulfillment~
Also someone asked if there were gay npcs.
Yes, a few.

I'm not huge on forums, but my roomie (atm) is also a player.
I have been in a closed poly relationship four years.
Two girls, two boys. Three of us have been together for the full four, the newest one has been with us almost a year (our anniversary with him is soon).
I wouldn't MIND the support. The amount of support and inclusion I get anywhere is nearly zero. The issue is that I am the only person of my partners that plays this game at all.
Even if this thread is a joke. Even if what I have is actually being used as a slippery slope argument..
It's kind of neat people thought of it at all.

Ragnarok Online did babies with marriages in game before. It's not even a new idea.
I hope mod wake up and delete this thread already. Report and move on.
Marriage topic is WAY too political and opinionated for this mmo (for the fanbase) . Remove from game & /thread.
*Equips flameshield**
This is what happens when people attempt to use politics to shape culture, rather than reflect it.
50 years ago, the vast majority of things that were political were those things that involved the working of national government and it's affairs. (Trade regulation, wars and national defense, taxes, budgets, corruption, etc..)
But today, we have activists who attempt to use the strong hand of government to change and affect every aspect of people's lives and culture.
And we see the result. Marriage is now political, as is weather, diet, driving, sports, religion, clothing, health care, video games, guns, television, education, housing, etc, etc.
In fact, name one thing that ISN'T way too political and opinionated these days.
Go ahead, I'll wait...
Ok, I'll bite, but in a retrospective manner to my original post:
There is no need for overinflated political / opinionated RL views in an mmo.
Videogames are "supposed" to be a relaxing way for people to be entertained. Not a venue for speculative mindsets.
In an ideallistically jouvenile manner: When I log in (to this game) I want to kill things with giant swords and fireballs. I do not wish to be saturated by selective RL groups and their constant vie for real life acceptance. It's unfortunate enough that Selective groups are cramming their views down my throat daily in the real (North American) world. Let me kill Dragons in relative peace. Leave your RL issues at the door.
Oh this thread, you got me!

I agree. I play video games to escape that crap.
And unlike in RL Marriages, 'MMO marriages' are meaningless fluff.
If RP'ers want it, then let them set it up however they like... but don't waste dev resources on creating what a giant flamebait system when ARR has more serious issues that need to be addressed
1) Spell checks Spell checks for everyone (including me)
2) How many religions/sects allow Polygamy?
3) How many countries in the world allow, by law, Polygamy?
4) Why do we "Need" marriages in game anyway?
I don't give a chocobodropping if you are married in RL and want to be married in game.
5) Leave real world problems in the real world, in game, everybody is the same, a bunch of pixels. Just that Miqo and lala are better than elezen.
As has been pointed out, how does someone in game getting married stop you from shooting fireballs or hitting things with your floppy sword?
It doesn't you can still do those, unless your worried you might get invited to said weddings? And judging by your post I doubt anyone would want you there
Wow, I can honestly say I didn't think my thread would garner all the negativity that it has... I thought after seeing how much support the same sex marriage threads had (yes, even though they had their share of bickering...) that maybe the community would be positive towards the idea of trying to help another group out who would enjoy trying to utilize in game features that align with their choices.
I won't give up hoping - that's for sure, but I certainly didn't come here to undermine same sex rights or any of the awful or ugly things I've read here. It makes me feel really crummy actually, to think that something I'm so excited and hopeful for is something people could see as possibly motivated by spite or a sense of petty vengeance.
First thing. Marriage is between 2 people, Male AND Female. Not 2 males or 2 females. Mark 10:6 says “ But from the beginning of creation, God made them Male AND Female. Marriage is something God made! Second thing, 1st Corinthians 7:2 says “But because of immoralities, each man is to have his own WIFE, and each woman is to have her own HUSBAND… See? One spouse. Male for Female and Female for Male. God has ordained it.
As soon as a Same-Sex Thread appeared i always said; Then i want polygamic relationships as well. I guess people thought i am joking, but if we go by the countries who actually have it legal compared to same-sex, it is interesting to see that more countries support polygamy than same-sex. On the other hand it is also in more countries forbidden than same-sex marriage is. There are also a good amount of countries which endure both.
It can be indeed a political discussion but it should not. The same way like people say it should not about same-sex marriage. I would support it and would not mind if, neither do i care about same-sex marriage in the Game. But like some people here saying it is straight wrong to have polygamic relationships, but support same-sex is kind of.... hm.. whats the correct word... being a hypocrite?
Not everyone shares the same religion as you, so get of your high horse there. Some Religions actually support polygamy.
And also:
"On February 14, 1650, the parliament at Nürnberg decreed that, because so many men were killed during the Thirty Years’ War, the churches for the following ten years could not admit any man under the age of 60 into a monastery. Priests and ministers not bound by any monastery were allowed to marry. Lastly, the decree stated that every man was allowed to marry up to ten women. The men were admonished to behave honorably, provide for their wives properly, and prevent animosity among them."
wow what a silly post for a already silly thing being added
While there was potential in the original post for the discussion of changes to a system that has been briefly outlined in the recent Producer's Letter Live, the thread itself has gotten very off topic with a combination of real life discussions, personal attacks, and what seems to be sarcasm. The written word makes it very hard to discern sarcasm, so I'll be providing the benefit of the doubt there in terms of account actions. Any reports that have been made will be investigated and handled appropriately; however, the thread will be closed due to the current state of the discussion. Please feel free to show your support for the original idea, if you like it, by using the "Like" button.
