FAQ: Zoadiac Weapons & You

Oh, one thing I remembered my FC leader asking me a bit ago.

Apparently Atma weapons are handled by the server the same way as Aetherial items.

If you have a Gearset with an Atma weapon on it that has been modified (any books completed), and then do another book, when you try to change to the old Gearset it will popup a message about not being able to put back on the same Aetherial item (Such as a Thyrus Atma with.... +2 mnd, then doing a book so your current one now has +4 mnd)

how about you have a book but haven't complete it do you still get atma from fates for another class exampel?
or do you need finish book before to get more atmas from fate?

All you need to get atma is to wear a zenith...

I've heard of some odd technique where an Atma's drop rate will increase during a certain hour of the day: does anyone have more info on this? I normally don't believe this sort of stuff (and to be frank, I don't believe this at all), but given that I've been in the East Shroud for two weeks with no luck, I'm a bit desperate, haha. Plus, it reminds me of the good ol' days of ridiculous RPG-stories that you'd chase down *coughwheatswordcough*.

This is actually just a myth as myself and others have tried it and does not work.
Some sites posted that certain drops in certain areas would happen @ a certain given time. Atma is absolutely complete rng. :(

In NicoNico interview Yoshi has also stated that it's all RNG

Yoshi already answered this during latest event, translated via Reinhart, that it is pure random. So... no valid theories.

Thanks for the responses. It's pretty hard to be disappointed about something you doubted to begin with, but it would've been nice if there was some trick to boosting the drop rate. Ah well, hopefully the East Shroud will be kind this week. I already disliked the zone enough as is, and being in there for over 15 hours (although it's probably been longer) so far hasn't helped.

Well... I can add my own small theories if you still curious to try:

Majority of atma I farmed are gotten from lowest level of FATEs. Seriously. XD

But again, remember that it is still RNG. lol

Oddly enough, I got two of my nine Atmas so far at the exact full hour of server time / local time (e.g. 7:00 pm or 10:00pm). But still, this is perfectly possible even though it is pure RNG.

I didn't see this in the Q&A, but it has been hinted at in the thread.

Q. I killed the enemie I needed to kill but they didn't count towards my book. What's happening?

A. The simple answer is you didn't kill the right enemy. The right enemy has a little gear-like symbol above their head. Additionally, if it was the correct enemy, then you didn't have your atma equipped. As an additional point on this, if there is more than one person going for the kill, whoever gets the initial hit on the enemy, will always get the kill count. The other person just needs to get enough hits for it to count for them, too.

Q: say you collected 12 atma for both your WHM and BLM weapons. Can you work on one book for each of them at the same time? I know you can only get one book at a time on one weapon, but what about separate classes?

If not, this should be changed so you can have a maximum of one book per weapon per class, not just one book period.

Anyone know?

You can only have one book at any time, regardless of which weapon it's for.

Not relating to getting/upgrading the weapons, so shouldnt be here.... but its a macro:

It has been confirmed that Failed fates yeild atma.

It is also confirmed if Odin spawns in a zone for atma his fate will drop it.

You just have to participate and be eligible for the loot of a fate in order to receive atma while having a zenith weapon equipped.

Other things, Rowena sells the 3 Celestial ink for the next phase into novus. And there is an NPC that will have you do a daily roulette (expert or high level) for alexandrite.

You can farm alexandrite off fates( enjoy your 2%drop rate), but it requires you to have an ANIMUS weapon equipped. Its also a low drop rate, and you have to be on that portion of the quest line to make it drop, just like the atma.

The alexandrite is for materia melds to the new scrolls. You start with level 1 materia melds and go from there.
This is all I know.

Are the requirements for each book the same for all jobs?

Requirement is randoms

Ask you to go kill 10 randoms type/race/beast of enemies

3 randoms dungeon

3 randoms FATEs

and 3 randoms Levequests

Is it really random though? I'm asking because I'm a book ahead of my whm friend and so far the 2 books she's done are the same that i had to do. So i was wondering if I should wait up so we can just go through them all together

Book of skyfire 1 have the same set of dungeons, enemies, fates and leves, regardless of which job it's for.
Same for the other books.

I'm doing books with another SCH. All of the books for each job are the same. So the first mind book will always be the same, second mind book will be the same, etc etc. You can wait and you'll both be required to clear the same things for your books.

1 question... Do i need to farm all atma? I want to upgrade my Thyrus Zenith (WHM) only.. .. can i farm only that atma?.. if so what is the atma for Thyrus?.

Each weapon you wish to upgrade will require all 12 atma

You need one each of all 12 atma for any weapon you want to upgrade.

Atma aren't specific to each weapon, so there is no "atma for Thyrus". There are twelve types, one for each Zodiac constellation (Aquarius, Pisces, etc.). You'll need one copy of each of the twelve kinds. Also be aware, you can only get them if you're equipped with a Zenith relic when you engage.

I've gotten some Atma's when fates failed. You don't need to finish it, you just need to participate in it.

Question, can I get Atma stones with a Novus weapon? I'm trying to grind for Nexus, and I'd like to know whether or not I need to forsake the Novus to get the stones or not.

Only with a Zenith.

This is a weird question, but someone told me that they got an Atma with their Atma equipped. Has anyone been able to confirm this?

Atma = from FATEs in specific zones if you have a Zenith equipped
Alexandrite = from FATEs in every zone if you have an Animus or higher equipped
