How? The ears are in different places for starts, Yugiri has her ears clearly on the side, while the artwork has short ears on the top (so don't claim they flop down, they certainly are not that long...). Looks like a stylized Miqo'te to me.

And in that same image, there's another Miqo'te female with their ears roughly in the same place as what most people are mistaking for Yugiri's race.

How can you claim her ears look more like Yugiri's when we don't even know what her ears look like. Also, just give Miqo'te in the second image you've posted some crazy strong winds and bam, their ears are exactly the same as the one in the art (/Half Life 3 confirmed.)

These two are not related. The artist always draws his miqo'te's ears that way. Check some of his other artwork for ffxiv.

i can see how she is a bunny girl, but the only thing that makes me think she is not is her tail. she had a tail like miqo'te from the cut-scene i have seen so far

I vote this race! For what Yugiri is.

If only she didnt have scales on her entire tail...

Regardless of what they are, I sincerely hope this race is unique and playable. If I like the race enough I'd even be willing to switch from Roe to one...even though I love the manliness of the male Roe with all my heart.

It's kind of odd how her tail has tufts of fur at the base, but kind of looks like it's scaly. But it is white.. and definitely not Miqo'te. We shall see. I was kinda hoping for Bangaa, (which ....could still be a possibility considering w̶e̶ ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶e̶v̶e̶r̶ ̶s̶e̶e̶n̶ ̶a̶ ̶F̶e̶m̶a̶l̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶t̶y̶p̶e̶) but we'll see.

Going to be sincere, the last thing XIV needs is more races. I have this unfounded hope that we're just dealing with an additional Beasman race, but she bears all the traits a PC has, including the design choices made to streamline equipment design.

EDIT: Also, not sure if anyone's mentioned it (18 pages is a lot to sift through), but all of Yugiri's emotes and actions were that of a Miqo'te. Probably just used as a placeholder, given her physical similarity to them, by which I mean ears and tail, haha.

The problem with Yugiri being Burmecian is that... we already have a race of rats. Qiqirn says hello. No, seriously, the Burmecians aren't bunnies or even lizards. Or anything inbetween. They're rats. Right now nothing really fits and Yugiri isn't sharing, her character model is a mannequin (no, really, it's a mannequin) leaving only her tail offering any clues.

Its a Dragon Kin of some kind. No Bunny ears, those are horns, and if you look at her back side, shes got a tail with scales on it.

I don't really think they are horns, if you watch closely in the cutscenes they will sometimes shift minutely when her character model moves.

I'm with you. I think it's a Gria.

I doubt they're any of the FF12 races.

Banga and Seeq were way too misshapen, and that girl clearly has a regular female physique.

Viera are the same way, Fran was significantly taller than the entire cast, with her entire race standing on the tips of their feet, and hands a bit longer than a regular humans'.


So if they're a new race, they're probably a new race. If it's inspired by something else, there's a great chance they won't look too much different from the current Hyur-based classes.

I didn't read it all, But know one else noticed this? They are feathery scales... Nu Mou anyone? yes she is slim and her ears don't sag as much but that tail.

If you look at her tail it is more reptilian then anything. The Viera have bunny like tails while Yugiri's is long and as I said more reptilian. I would like to propose the idea she is a Bangaa.

Most likely not horns, as they move during a couple of the cutscenes.

Freya's race would be cool but I'd be okay if they made up something new just for ffxiv.

I'd have to agree that something along the lines of a reptile based race is likely, her tail looks somewhat like a reptile one and the ears remind me of the Bangaa. In addition we already have a race based on an animal with fur so one that is scaly wouldn't be too odd really.

I really hope it's not a rabbit. While I do enjoy the fur-type races in games, it would be a bit overwhelming if 2 of the races were fur-related.
If they added a reptile or something, and then maybe in the future added a rabbit race, it'd be a lot more balanced in terms of diversity. I'd have no issue seeing a rabbit race in the future, but right now with Mi'qote I'm afraid it will become too much of a fur-based game instead of diversity with reptiles or another type of race.
