Everyone hates the elf race?

I actually like that hairstyle, to be honest. My duskwight was the cliche grey skinned with white hair, though :P

There is a hairstyle that you guys have that I want on my roe SO BADLY! Hopefully SE decides to let me have it some day!

what I really want to find out is the lore behind why their heads are smaller than lalafells?

I played one in 1.0, and do love her, but when beta started on 2.0, i thought i'd try a cat girl, and fell in love. I prefer the dance of the elezen, and some of the others, but a lot of them just look "off" to me, especially with the proportions.

However they made their necks too long, their heads tiny, and their shoulder span too wide. It doesn't look unique, it just looks off. I personally would of liked to play one.

And also for men, the only haircut that looks nice on elezens ( the one of the elezen on the right ), because it makes the head a little larger and cover the neck so it doesn't feel that long, is the most used in the game by every races, maybe if they had better haircuts ( they showed one that looked nice ) maybe i'll consider changing back into elezen.

To me, their proportions look very similar to runway models.

I don't hate elezen, it's just that I don't like the way the girls hold themselves and walk. That's why I rolled miqote, you have to be happy with the way your character looks.

I absolutely disagree. To me, that's the worst hairstyle, its limp and raggedy and the hair in his eyes really bothers me, are they a seasoned adventurer or a tween that just discovered emo fashion? It does not fit the natural elegance of Elezen.

I prefer the short style with a sideswept front and layered back. It is a little messy but not unkempt and while it doesn't cover up the neck, it does add add enough volume to make the head appear larger which also gives the illusion of a shorter neck.

Do I hate other people who play Elezen? Nah, couldn't care less what other people do.
Would I ever make an Elezen toon? Hell no, they have an extremely awkward body build/stance and look horrible in almost everything. Also, the jog animations of the males is beyond embarrassing.

I'm zoomed out too far to tell what anyone is. They're all lalafells to me (minus the galka's...or whatever they're calling them. They're HUGE)!

I absolutely adore the Elezen! the girls are really pretty and graceful if made right, and the men are really handsome, my favorite males in the game~

I would agree, that brother and sister elf you take a carriage ride with when you first start a toon, should be the base elf look. They where beautifully modeled characters. The others in game look disproportionate and intimidatingly disturbing.

I realize it's a 5 year old thread but it's funny it should come up because I've noticed an alarming number of elezen sprouts recently. I thought we were uncommon but if I was a new player this weekend I wouldn't have known it - elezen everywhere and I love it.

I have been every race I do enjoy how elezens look in gear

Also changed back to Duskwight Elezen because lore says they like a life of seclusion in the forest, sounds familiar.... *Stares at Male Viera in German*

Give the vierfa elf ears instead of bunny ears and they'd be good elves imo.

Final fantasy has no idea how to make elfs correctly they are always ugly or weird looking.

I love the Elezen. I have been every race, male and female, and I always come back to Elezen Male for my main. They can be awkward at times and are honestly really hard to do well because a lot of glam just plain doesn't look great on them, but when you do find the right glam it always looks better on them than any other race. Their proportions are tricky but I love being a part of a race that isn't completely saturated. It gives me more of a sense of rarity.

Same. I've tried a few times myself, but the fantasia never lasts long. As I see it, I paid my dues as a female Elvaan in XI. I've had enough of their unique body shape to last me awhile. Nothing against those who do actually enjoy the look, it's just not for me.

I am super excited that Viera are coming as it's a tall race with proportions more to my liking :)

Most of (my) elf race issues comes back to FFXI, where Elvaan were straight up arsholes in the narrative or culture. The players themselves were fine. But the NPC's made hating tarutaru and Elvaan much more likely for the players. And so far, there's maybe only 2 I really liked in FFXIV and 1 of them is (SPOILERS) dead. Otherwise, all the other Elezen seem to be on the same path as XI's culture, which is why seeing elezen players is somewhat rare on aether data center (between party finder and duty finder)

Either way it's more a compliment. Either I'm a fridge that houses delectable food and drink or an oven to make a tasty pizza. Can't really go wrong.

But what amazes me even more is how there's never been a forum cleanup. I've never seen a forum that kept threads from 6 years ago. Just imagine... years from now, all the silly stuff we say today will still be around, a treasure trove of blackmail material someone will be a quick search away from using against us. Huh... But on-topic, I don't think I'd have become interested in FF14 at all if it hadn't been for catgirls... which I was surprised to find out were actually a rarity in the MMO space. This was the only one that had nekos that weren't also some kind of loli or furry.
I'm pretty sure there isn't even an alternate universe in which I play an Elezen character in this game if Miqo'te, Lalafell or Au Ra also exist. Or even one in which I play this game at all if it exists without Miqo'te.

What I'm trying to say is: I don't "hate" Elezen, I just don't find them as interesting as the other options we have available. I feel like elves in a lot of fantasy settings have kinda become as ordinary and generic as humans. I guess you could call it Tolkien fatigue.
