Can we get the later part of the thread submitted to SE?

Good god shoot the person who asked that.Quote:
Could a pop up be added after harvesting an item requesting "Would you like to keep this?" or "Toss it out"?
Pretty obvious gathering is on the sidelines for now, which is where I'd rather have it be. Battle content takes priority.

I'm with you. SAY NO TO MORE MENUS.
Useless q/a imo
Nice, this answers a lot of questions about DoH, or at least the general direction of it. I'm glad they are letting (requiring) combat focused classes to advance the main story. Something just feels off when there is a huge battle against savage beastmen and just off to the side is some scholarly beastman who would rather parlay with you, ending the conflict right then and there.
I don't know, Doc. I think they answered a lot, but most of the answers were "No."
That's fine, I suppose. But I have to admit I'm disappointed that they're not adding grade 6 nodes. And in fact, they're getting rid of the only grade 6+ nodes currently in existence. That's a step backwards. We need more content -- especially higher level content -- not less.
Although I am curious why they didn't answer the question whether they're going to add a visual indicator to show when you've hit gathering fatigue. They're obviously willing to say, "We'll look into it." Why wouldn't they at least say that?
"We'll look into it" is SE's "working as intended". Aha, anyone get it ;v?
meh........
Please don't do this. There are already way too many random button presses required to do simple tasks. It already takes at least 6 button presses to do one gathering attempt. Players can already clear their inventory more efficiently without slowing everyone down. Gathering should be streamlined, not bulked up with more unnecessary button presses.Quote:

We'll take it into consideration.
Can you please check on this answer again? I can assure you that sitting on a sweet spot still generates random items, no matter what your rank. I'm sure SE knows this. (If they don't, that's bad.) Maybe the intended answer was that sitting on a sweet spot only increases the chances of getting the item, but there's still a chance of getting other items?Quote:
When I hit a sweet spot I still get random items, why is this?
We believe this may be because certain requirements (such as not being the proper rank) have not been met.
"they didn't answer anything", "waaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh"Quote:
I do ask that you please keep in mind the format and style of this Q&A. We received a ton of questions and it'd be difficult to give huge, and in-depth answers to each and every one of them. It may come off kind of cold to have so many similar responses, but that was the style of Q&A we chose to do with such a large volume of questions.
at least we got the chance to participate in a Q&A. Now they need to do one for DoW & DoM.
"We'll look into it" was the answer to "Will we see a 3rd set of artifact armor?" in a FFXI Q&A.
Guess what happened?
http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/addon/index.html
It was a good Q&A and yes lots were answered and if any other company said "We'll take it into consideration" people won't take the negative context of it even though it literally means it's being considered or analyzed (looking into it.) Then again it's always easier to be negative even though it takes more work to be as such.
I'd like the time back I wasted reading this Q/A. At least they're clearly not wasting any resources on gathering classes.
They actually answered a lot of stuff...
Whether or not an acknowledgement of certain issues (i.e. we'll look into it) is an insufficient answer is up to the interpretation of the user, but honestly, what more CAN they say? If they haven't really discussed the aspects of a particular issue in detail, what more are they supposed to answer with? Especially since a lot of the questions were simple yes-no questions.
They did answer your question about whether or not gathering classes will be able to assist battle classes, did they not?
If you (not you specifically, just speaking in general now) want more detailed answers, then ask questions that begin with the words "why" or "how".
You will notice that on the question that asked how MND influenced gathering, there were a bit more details in the answer.
No they didn't.
They clearly stated:
They didn't go into detail or give a real answer as to what MND did since they answered nothing! :DQuote:
MND has an effect on gathering.
It is difficult to stay positive when questions are given cookie cutter responses that show they did not actually read the question.
Example-
"Are there factors such as Moon Phases, Time of Day, and Weather Conditions that affect the Drops Rates and Quality of items obtained through gathering?"
Similar suggestions have been brought up, but nothing specific has been decided.
The answer is a simple yes (+ what mechanics are a factor) or a no.
See the problem is not to make it more real by means of using better creation methods, if I remember correctly, the original poster of that question referred to how "the animations were obviously sped up to make gathering faster" so they seemed "unreal" because of it. It's not implying that the creation method was bad.Quote:
Will the gathering animations ever be reworked or redone through motion capture to improve the realism and fluidity of the animation?Quote:
The animations are already made using motion capture... :(
Haha, that answer sounds very "Idunno lol, I THINK it works like this. Maaaaybe."Quote:

HOLY CRAP, I can't believe they answered something like this that clearly. More like this!Quote:
What does Mind do for mining?Quote:
The higher the character’s Mind, the more items are gained.
Wait-- wat. This was kind of a "Y/N" question... A mistranslation maybe?Quote:

Nothing about the pouches for gathering classes, then?
Well, it seemed pretty underwhelming, but I'm glad I had something to read I suppose.
Honestly, not to be a jerk here, but in hindsight, we should try to make polls for stuff that's on "the top of the list". Considering gathering classes are not anywhere near the priority list, it's to be expected that all will be "Your concern is backburner fuel right now" answers.
There were many answers that sounded like "Yes", and that's good and motivating, the problem is that even those sound vague, and since SE has a long history of "soon" meaning "more time than mortal beings are capable of waiting", I don't even know if I should get excited or just move along and wait for them to pop when my future generations can enjoy it.
I wonder if the rest of the Q&A bring a spring to my step.
Thanks for delivery Bayohne, have those guys drink some of whatever keeps so active, will ya?Quote:
Similar thoughts have been brought up by developers.
I feel as though nothing got answered and as though they didn't really read a few of the questions as the response to them didn't even fit the question.
Honestly instead of having the players ask questions and get no as the majority of the answers why don't the devs just tell us what THEY have planned and what THEY are discussing and tossing around amongst themselves and see how we feel about it. No sense in asking us to ask questions when they are either gonna get a no answer or not answered accurately.
The only thing I really took away from this is that Gathering classes are no longer equal to other classes and are now basically an after thought as they basically said we won't get our own content like story missions or side quests or what have you.
See, this makes freakin' perfect sense. The only reason I can imagine they wouldn't want to just make "blogs" where the team posts what they've been considering and openly tell us what they've taken and dropped is to not get us hyped on something they are considering that ends up dropped, causing a fanboy-revolt. However, they cause the exact same effect whenever they give super-vague answers, which they've been doing forever (can't really say it's new here). So might as well.
What, are they afraid we'd catch on their trend when making decisions for content?
Well that was a waste of time to even translate the answers. I dont know why they even bother adding a forum when they are not going to release any useful information on it. Any decent info we got so far was just on the front pages of lodestone.
I'm not going to defend the answers that were given but did you guys honestly expect anything else?
Considering they did actually give answers we got what we wanted, a lot of stuff is being taken into consideration or being looked into (which means what it says.)
Or it's because they haven't decided if it will have an effect or not in the future, means no for now but not a concrete no in terms of mechanics as it can always change, so if they flatout said no, then it ends up having an effect after an update, people will say they lied.
Yeah i can see your point on this one, but the question is still a yes or no question. I've found a a number of mechanics that are documented in older "ask the dev posts" that simply don't work, and wanted to hear something concrete from SE about moon cycles and weather.
Well, I disagree that they didn't provide any answers. But I can think of a couple of reasons that players should prefer Q&As over blog entries.
First, it's a good way for SE to gauge player interest in certain issues. SE isn't a company of mind-readers. This is a good way for players to let SE know how we feel about certain issues, and what's important enough to fix first.
Second, blog posts/letters tend to focus on what they've definitely got planned, and ignore everything else. That's just good PR. Here, we got plenty of "We're not planning to do that" and "We're thinking about that, but not sure" responses. So we get responses on a wider variety of topics than you'd get from a blog post/letter.
Third, we got answers to our questions. This isn't SE telling us only what they want us to know. This is SE telling us what we want to know.
Funny how everyone expected this Q&A to be any different than the last one. :P
You're questions were answered, but not the answer you guys wanted.
OH /RAGEQUIT!
The Q&A's are definitely not working, even though were yet to see the questions from the other regions. I'll go with the idea presented a few posts behind. Have the developers provide the information themselves for what is ready and they have plans of implementing. We know per Yoshida's policy, promises that can't be kept wont be made anyway.
I still get the feeling that, even if Yoshida indicated several times the teams are working in parallel, is simply not showing.
They can't be serious - Q = "Why can we can fish in the fountain in town, but we can't fish in natural water sources like Sorrel Haven?" A = "We'll take it into consideration." LMAO
hah...Quote:

Im surprised no one asked if higher tiers of Lay of the Land etc would work for lower grade areas like Prospect etc do.
I do not understand this..
What is the point of holding a Q&A if the answer to every question is no? SE would have done better just to post in this thread...
"There are no plans to make any adjustments to the Gathering Classes at any time in the foreseeable future."
I mean, No Grade Six Node, No Plans to Balance SP, No Plans to Incorporate us into the New Content, No Plans to let us play socially..
Why did they waste our time/get our hopes up with this? Holding a Q&A implies that you have plans to make changes to the topic at hand does it not?
I think SE needs to add a dislike button to these forums so they can see how bad this Q&A is..
Square Enix sure does love the non-answer.
Get your fishing up while you can.
Given the amount of time the developers take to do nearly anything, I'd say we have a few months. :rolleyes:Quote:
Q. Currently the highest node a Botanist/Miner can gather from is Grade 5 while Fishers have Grade 10s, giving them a huge advantage over Miners/Botanists for skilling up. Will we be seeing a balance to this in the future?
A. In regards to fishing, we have been looking into lowering fishing spots Grade 6 and above to Grade 1.
I agree! ^^ They answered what ppl asked. More specific questions had more specific answers...generic questions got generic answers.
I didn't like the answers at all because it seems the way the current dev team see DoL/H is different from the original vision of Tanaka team, giving them much less importance than the battle-related classes, but i support the will from dev team and the community reps in making these Q&A!
Would be nice we even have this kind of topic as sticky at each sub-forum...this way people can leave their questions there and from time to time reps generate a Q&A and remove all posts prior to that Q&A so all questions there are up to date. ^^
Wait, you mean like how he specifically said "We've been planning to balance SP gains"? Or howabout "We're looking into adding rare items to be gathered"? Or "We're looking into adding higher-rank gear (just not tools)"?
ETA: Or the part about considering separating battle leves from gathering leves. . . /edit
Honestly, your selective memory is kinda depressing. . .
I don't think there are many other gatherers out there, but thank you very much! And I'm beggining to really like these new Q/A's~ :D
