Info on the Lodestone!

I find it ironic that there's a giant picture of 40 people on choco-back in a game with no chocobos.

Not me, especially since the game tells you there are chocobos (you even see them) just not enough for everyone.

It's actually not that bad. After reading it, it just explains more about what is going on. Leaving a few ideas of how dungeons are going to work, which is why it says that the screenshots depict area under development. Meaning, these area's are completely new and are not content we already have. :P

i cant believe how many people want everything fixed and ready to play and balanced to perfection right now. i mean sure, want it, but dont expect it. and then say that the dev team isnt doing anything.
i dont think you guys really understand how hard and how long it takes to make a game. and what kind of stuff goes into it. and even for people who dont know the details of making a game, you should at least know that it takes usualy over a year to make a game. an MMO of course takes a whole lot longer.
and i know theres gonna be someone who gonna say "we're not asking them to make a whole game, just a few improvements" so let me just stop you right there and remind you that your not only asking them to come out with great new content thats fully ready to go on a regular basis but also asking them to completely redo huge portions of the game that have already been completed. (battle system, magic and spells, jobs, monsters .etc) and your expecting it done in game in 1/3 the amount of time it takes for a regular non MMO game to be created.
it will take a while, and theres nothing you can do about it. either be patient and supportive or leave and play something else.
if it was me working on this game, i would not be that motivated to make some good content for people that constantly complain about the game. keep that in mind

Most people here don't and it makes reading these forums both hilarious and frustrating. What they've decided to do with the game is a huge undertaking, one I'm not sure was really necessary personally, but it's something that takes a lot of time and I hope they haven't bitten more then they can chew at this point and still expect people to be patient.

Allowing the game to still be playable (with no fees whatsoever) while they are redesigning is HUGE, I wish people were more grateful for it. This would never happen with other MMOs. Never.

Thats why I don't complain, I give my thoughts and ideas to SE, Thats Why SE made the Forums in the first place. To get feedback from the players, not whine and complain feedback.. that doesnt help the game at all =(.

Exactly, No other MMO that has made mistakes that are P2P would never go THIS long F2P while making a game what it should be, and will be for years to come

While it would be kind of nifty to see this kind of stuff in game. It would have to be added in far in advance via the scheduled patches and then time activated. Or the game would have to be taken off line and clients patched for the addition of the amount of information that was presented to us today. and i think that would make a bunch of people a bit more perturbed. but hey what ya gonna do right, damned if they do damned if they don't.


Kind of wished that the photos of toto-rak were not interlaced and sepiatoned to hell and back. but it has my interest piqued none the less, the info about the grand companies was at the same time heartening and disappointing at the same time on one hand its looking like there will be tiered progression with in each company. which is pretty nifty i really dug xi's assaults and gaining mercenary rank with the sentinels. Looks like i finally might get a new long term goal to get me logging in regularly again. On the other hand if were not allowed to participated in content with people who have sworn allegiance to another company i can definitely see this causing friction and problems down the line.

I'm not sure what you're saying but in case you are saying that no P2P game has made these kind of mistakes you would be very wrong.

Any other MMO with this amount of fail would get shut down, sold, or at best close it's doors while rebuilding. Players would not have accessed to it and they would probably have had already subbed for a few months, examples at the top of my head:

Fury

Chronicles of Spellborn

Never said there wasn't any that has made mistakes, however have they turned it into a F2P for 7+months while losing 12 Billion Yen Just to make this game successful?

Nope....??? I have no idea what point you're trying to make other then reinforce what I said. And it's not F2P, it's unlimited access to anyone with a box. F2P I think suggests there's an alternate form of payment like a cash shop.

Well, well, well.

Just a little tidbit people aren't taking into account when complaining that this should be "in-game" and not on the lodestone.

Yes, I do agree that having a newspaper guy or some sort of NPC would be cool. Yes, I'd love a newspaper feature with these things in-game, and to be fair, I quite expect at the very least a LOT of changed NPC dialogue when 1.18 comes, referencing everything already mentioned in the lodestone and extra stuff. Patch 1.17 had this happen with the whole no-music-in-thanalan-and-other-creepy-stuff-event.

But this kind of info and lore is extremely relevant to be available on the website because, as you probably can guess, there's a quite high number of people that ARE NOT actually playing BUT following the lodestone or the forums. People that stopped playing some time ago and are following to see when / if they can come back. They would NOT see this, they would guess NOTHING is happening and therefore they would NEVER return. Not saying they are going to start playing because of THIS, but it's this kind of thing that helps keeping these people well informed and into the lore. When 1.18 comes they will update the NPCs to reflect the changes and that lore will be put in-game, ta-dah.

Also remember it is far easier to update the website than update the game, and as far as I can remember, you all don't want them working into "useless fan fiction" when they "should" be working on more "pressing matters". Admit it, if it was an NPC doing the same thing you would all be bitching anyways and complaining it should be in the lodestone and not in-game and complain about LOLPATCH 1.17b.

Anyones on the Front page of the Lodestone of that topic it says this:

Well, it actually tells.

A - One of the purposes of Companies is to give quests. As you do these quests, you will unlock new ones. You can get some powerful equipment from these quests. Will it use a Fame system? Quest chain? That really isn't explained yet.

B - You can be part of only one of the Companies

C - New dungeon in the black shroud

D - There are 'barriers' and other garlean tricks in said dungeon. This could mean some puzzles

E - There are djiggas and puks in the dungeon, see pic (LOL)

F - We will be fighting against garleans and beast tribes more often

and

G - We got some lore on top of all this information.


Still sure we know "nothing new"?

What the hell will make you guys happy? Seriously, do they need to give us a map of the dungeon, list of mobs + drops + drop rates and a video walkthrough of the dungeon?

What we know:

It's in Gridania.
It's a former prison.
The Garelan Empire is present.
They're using secret unseen technology, possibly something involving lightning/electricity.
A glowing wall(s) impedes advance through the dungeon at some point.
Something chasing the team that was killed.

They said they would give us information on dungeons mid-may. Well it's mid-may, hey look dungeon info. Could it be in the game? Sure. Even if it was you'd all be complaining just as hard. This community disgusts me, most of you won't ever be happy with this game.

We know there are TWO more articles one from the Newspaper for Limsa and Uldah still unprinted.
Those Two Articles could be about Two OTHER Dungeons.

Meaning 3 Dungeons in 1.18.

Missions are not Quests... thats what people are seem to be missing here... Quests are "ment" to be small little tidbits
Missions are ment to be long and chained lead to the final result of the Mission, and within that mission has alot of stuff to do.

Its still a quest system its just segregated with different rules.

Guild Leves Regional

Missions
Class Missions
Side Quests
Guild Tasks
Grand Company Missions


Are all quests but all follow different ruless.

"I speculated what companies were 3 months ago and they are just confirming what I already know."

This is what I hear from a lot of people... They just told us that companies are going to tie in directly with dungeons. This could mean a lot of things. A lot of people have been suggesting some kind of rep/fame system, companies tying in with dungeons could be the start of something like that (speculation). They also released some foggy screenshots (granted, they were thumbnails) from the dungeons themselves. It looks like this first dungeon they are talking about is going to be in Gridania, we're going to be fighting some danger the Garleans are creating (sounds like they are disrupting aetherite energies and angering creatures).

Some people don't like RP, and I can understand that but to say they released a bunch of information we already knew - that's not true at all. There is a TON of speculation about this game and just because a few people speculated just that doesn't change the fact that this is, in fact, an official release of new information. Just be happy they're still working on the game and have provided some of the best compensations ever seen in the MMO genre. Most games would have closed doors and the devs would have moved on to other things in FFXIV's launch situation.

For those complaining that this information should be in-game, it almost certainly will be, though in a different form. If you don't want to read it, don't. Go ahead and wait for the patch, the rest of us will enjoy our glimpse at what is coming.

Presenting information in an alternate location in advance is a strength, not a weakness.

Oh, I was thinking it would be like City Missions in 11. I'm happy with quests too. As many quests and missions they dole out I would absolutely enjoy.

it probly isnt gonna be in game the way that they have it on the website. they didnt have that after story of the easter event in game at all, if people didnt read it online they would never know the story. im not one of the people who were complaining about it kuz i do go to the website often but i do think they should have it in game as a newspaper or something. but what everyone fails to mention is that it CAN be in game AND and the website. i have been waiting for someone to say that but no one has so ill finally throw that out there.
i played FFXI on the ps2 and xbox and i liked being able to read upcoming events and news on playonline before i actually entered the game (yes theres someone who actually liked playonline) and im going to switch to the ps3 version when it comes out so i would prefer to not have to go on my computer JUST to see news about the game.
just put some kind of newspaper in game thats exactly the same as the website and make everyone happy
