Almost nobody uses the bid price in WoW, if you want an item right there and then you use the buy option.
Items are sent to your mailbox instantly.

You might wana play the game before thinking you know everything about it.

That aside I think the retainer/marketward system is crap and agree with the OP that an AH would be better solution.

Also new players will want and expect a decent AH system, so SE give them what they want especially if you want to make money from this game.

to zavier, AH was seperate for all cities in FFXI there is no reason to think AH would solve cities being under utililized other than to make it even less utilized. Not much was going on in windy AH last i checked.

With the search star system the way it is no one looks at the retainers playing dress up because nobody cares. And you're right about the real world equivalent thing, the fact that there's not real life equivalent of giant yellow birds that we can ride around is also the reason they didn't put chocobos in. You might say but what about magic, well to that I'll invite you to my place so I can show you a few spells you can do in real life. I can for example Raise someone from the dead, or light someone's hair on fire...really cool stuff.

There's much better ways to build a market place, and this isn't one of them. The only reason SE decided not to go with an AH is so they can charge you for extra retainers, simple as that, which wouldn't have been bad had their execution of the MW been any good.

I'll take convenience (an AH) over defending a retarded, comparatively clunky, system that never should have been there in the first place.

the point is the game is trying to simulate buying and selling just as much as it trying to simulate spells.

apply the same logic for buying and selling that you have to using skills

yeah and a game that simulates spells could just have you click fire, and then tell you in chat log what your damage is, it would be way faster to level, and you wouldnt have to wait 5 seconds to do a fire spell.

Yeah and the giant yellow birds could instantly just put you where you want to go, but why do i get the feeling very few people actually want to do that.

because its not fun, its not entertaining, it makes the game seem more cheesy for some of the player base.

just because you dont give a crap and want your items instantly doesnt mean its the best thing. like i said there are people who want to play all sorts of market games, it costs you 30 seconds. I would consider the run speed of this game way more of timesink than all of the marketwarding you will do in your entire life as a player.

If you want to think of an AH, think of an AH that actually makes the game better and works with systems present to create a better experience, dont just limit it to, yeah this makes ME feel better


That said if they do add an AH it would have to have a hefty tax, it has to be more expensive than bazaaring or marketing, and would also have to have that risk of loss, which they had in FFXI. so yeah whatever is clever.

They just recently combine all the AH in XI, go check. My boyfriend still plays, you go to Windurst or Whitegate, its the same AH now. Newest update.

Hey that's still what I said when my boyfriend told me lol. I just can't believe that they our main storyline quest in XIV was planned so badly that LL and Grid are like the three starter cities of XI now.

I don't like Auction Houses, but they might as well implement one now that they ruined the market system and made it for all intents and purposes an auction house, albeit an inconvenient one.

They have already said they are adding price history in the future, so the only thing preventing it from being a true auction house (besides name) will be having to pick up your items. And honestly, I don't see why we can't buy things directly from the item counter. It's not bad if you only have to go into one ward, but once you start having to go into multiple wards it can get kind of annoying.

I'm perfectly fine with keeping the Market Wards. They just need to do some streamlining and work the kinks out of it. Though, if they replace it with the Auction House, I'm not going to cry bloody murder lol. I just hope that they make, whichever one they decide to stick with, a bit more unique than they are in usual mmos. People have come up with some really good ideas that they could add to MW/AH.
