And I rest my case.
OK WTF! I want to play on my character I invested how many hours into... GIVE US TRANSFER SERVICE NOW!
At this point, based on the vagueness of information given, none of us know exactly what kind of changes they'll be doing, if any, to the existing servers. I don't really give a flying donkey a$$ about new servers or have any inclination to re-roll after 30+ levels...so if I'm still seeing 1017 errors for hours after this extended maintenance, I'm cutting my losses and wiping my hands clean of this debacle of a mmo.
Trust me I know SE I played XI for many years. I have said in a previous post I don't really fully believe this is going to completely eliminate the entire problem, but with that being said they're not going to let the game crash and burn if they can do anything about it. The maintenance tomorrow is for the current problem everyone is having. Now it's not going to fix everything. It's going to take some time to balance and eliminate all problems, but I mean come on they're going to fix the server issues. In my opinion it's been too long and I think something should have been done sooner but if they just added new worlds and didn't fix the current issue of users not being able to log in and play the game, it would most definitely be the end of what the game could have been and the biggest idiot in the world could see that coming.
They claimed they going to fine tune the duty finder server in order to fix the login issue.
But come on, if duty finder really is the main cause, why don't they just turn off duty finder for now to avoid the majority of the player base suffer 1017. Or the fact is that fixing duty finder cannot really get rid of the issue?
I don't see an issue for people going back to uldah shouting party. At least better than O smashing
Never thought of that, but it's a good point. I am sure it's not the exact issue, though.
More serves can meen more game servers and other things.
Most modern data centers use one form of visualization or another. For those that are not familiar with VMs (virtual machines), multiple real servers host multiple servers in them (visualizations). It is a very load dynamic and fault tolerant structure where servers can be swapped on the fly from platform to platform depending on load and problem avoidance.
So in effect , a very busy game server taking 50% of the systems resources could also house two other servers with lower loads. If load increases one of the smaller load servers can be swapped on the fly to another host without interruption to the service. This then allows more host process power to manage the loaded server. If there is nowhere to swap it to then there is no avoiding the load. A little bit of overload can dramatically reduce effective performance.
