This game needs a play time limit.

Then a person would have to plan their whole gaming experience around a 3 hour play time limit. "Oh, I'd really like to do this, but I only have so much time before the game forcefully kicks me off." I think I'd rather stare at a start menu than do nothing important in the game while I am logged in, for fear of the game kicking me out every 3 hours. Even though I am in the same boat as many others, and have resigned myself to the fact that I probably won't be able to play this weekend due to the congestion, I still would never want a play timer implemented into this beautiful game. I decide when I log out.

play Time limit?! Lol That's one of the main reason ORIGINAL FXIV went in flames. (exp limit on classes) Lawls SE will not be repeating that mistake.

bunch of angry nerdy teenagers hate this idea because it reminds them of their parents nagging them and a brief 10 minute lock out would actually make them think about their poor life decisions

I agree with this concept. however I think that if this were to be implemented it you be best suited during peak playtimes with a minimum boot time of 5 hours (instead of the theoretical 3 hours). it would certainly ease up on queue times and not punish people who play on non peak hours like me (usually).

We must remember a different FFXIV - the original XIV failed because it was unfinished and on an engine not designed for MMOs, those are the main reasons.

no thank you to the log out timer. I wouldn't want a message saying I am going to be logged out in 10-15mins when I just entered a dungeon ... silly idea.

No.
They tried doing something similar in 1.0 and it was a huge failure.

Once they add the afk kick timer and the servers get fixed, the login issues will resolve themselves.

I don't think there should be a log in timer because as suggested by some players, some things take a while to complete. Also some people don't have a hard time logging in because they log in at a time where it is not so busy, not because they have kept their characters on all day long. I myself have had log in issues just about every time I log in, but I dont think a log in timer would be a good idea
