9 Coke required now? (or other)

so I have darksteel haubergon and its +18 str, +18 vit, + 21 crit, + 15 skill, I tried to put STR and crit hit on it with materia but you cant so I went with +12 determination double +6 materias
Darklight Cuirass for my DRG is 25 tombstones cheaper and I don't have to craft it and it's str + 20, vit +22, dex +18, Skill speed +19, it also has higher def and magic def. I dont see why anyone would try to craft items like this when you can simply get darklight. Gj making crafts worthless for endgame SE

Yeah.. I think Hiruke pretty much nailed it. I can't even comprehend the reason for making the Two-Star Crafts so heinously expensive. It's not even a matter of determination or long-term goal-setting; it's just plain silly and possibly a little insulting for anyone who was really looking forward to making the equipment. There is just no reasonable explanation.

You discussed Vanya earlier, but consider the Gryphonskin array. Not only is there a set of body gear, but there is a belt and accessories also. 9 Animal Fat for each of them? I'm all for making items difficult to attain for praiseworthiness, but this is well beyond the edge of reason.

Well, people are clearing bahamut place and getting allagan gears. Ilvl90. Crafted ilvl70 gear is simply not worth the time to level crafts, gatherers, make the right crafter gear, put materia in it all, AND spam the hell out of dungeons for enough materials. You don't even need these 2 star crafts for the ilvl80 relic weapons.

Unless you were lucky enough to have horded the mats from 1.0, you are better off getting darklight. You would be seriously wasting your time and not progressing by wasting your time on crafting or going for these materials with this change. SE is full of retarded monkies right now.

Once again, this didn't balance squat, it just put a halt on the crafters ability to make the best goods in the games, as a result of the blood sweat and tears it took to raise these damn classes in the first place, and made it totally impractical to even try or bother. Its too insulting.

I thought coke, animal fat, etc also dropped of high level mobs in coerthius and mordhona, last I heard.

Is there any truth to that rumor?

If not, then I would like to get some sort of dev response on this. Twenty seven philosophy tome materials for an item that can only be used by one class is outrageous. It's not worth the time and effort considering it's only marginally better than Darklight which takes significantly less effort and risk.

A few not so smart people or trolls in various other places relevant to this still try to rationalize this change. Those few people can feel free to waste their tombstones on crafting mats without actually researching the cost inefficiency of spending them on those things. They probably do get it, and are just trolling because they actually dont craft or have many left over material from 1.0, which is the only way making any of these things is worth it.

What this thread needs is more picture proof, and I will make some after i get off work.

I was really happy with the new crafting system untill I looked at the high level recipes and checked the materials required for them.
Just what is the purpose of crafting now? Is it just a timesink?
Because everything you can make in the low-mid level range can be bought from NPCs or is given to you from quests.

So, crafting is for endgame only after the grind to get there? And then you get recipes which require materials that are harder to get than similar not crafted gear?
A minimum of 9 coke/hardened sap/lime sulphur/... for 1 piece of gear is already a joke. 27!!! for 1 piece of gear is a slap in the face of crafters.

Either reduce the ammount needed for these synths to 2-3 instead of 9, or make these items obtainable through rare lvl50 crafting leves, rare gathering nodes or let them be a rare drop from trash mobe in dungeons (this would also lower the number of SAC runs).
