In WoW an epic is a item with purple colored text on their name. Highest level items in the game, lot better then blue or green items. Pretty much the same system FFXIV uses.

Keep in mind there's another iLvL90 weapon in the database -- Allagan XXX with a little different stat allocation. I suppose every item have an alternative now.
And at least AF2 doesn't take 50+ people putting in four hours twice a week, then lotting against four other people when a piece drops (cough Summoner's Horn cough)
White Mage's was Mjollnir, wasn't it? I never got there with my WHM, but it was still a cool item.
Thinking about it a bit further, weekly caps are actually... worse than in other games for this game. Since one character has one weekly allotment of weekly tokens/points, it would take forever to collect everything for every job you have, unless you make a completely new character. In other games you can just go play an alt which have their own allotment of tokens/points. They could also just make it a weekly cap per job.
Hopefully these pieces drop from somewhere else which I'm hopeful they do and the tokens are just a consolation prize for not getting something which they said they are.
You can trade them for the stones at 100 stones/tokens per seal.
Anyone know if they have said what they are doing with the old Hamlet seals that you don't need anymore? Hopefully 1 mil gil each for the hassel of getting them ;-P ...jk...but seriously anyone know?
Yes, and they were called "epic" because the quest involved to actually get the item was epic itself. People that complain about grinding now have now idea what it was like to get an epic in Everquest. I only managed to get the 1.0 and 1.5 epic for my mage. It took forever. I never want to have to go through that again. Q_Q. It was practically traumatizing.
Actually, I did. The grind for FFXI does not compare. Not even close.
