From the numbers alone, it seems Scholar will be a considerably better all-around healer than the White Mage, but we'll have to wait until the first raids hit endgame content to really be sure.

WHM is a one trick pony. Now that the trick has been given to another job, along with a lot of utility and other cool tools- the WHM is obsolete. If a WHM isn't the best healer... it's just an okay healer with nothing else in the toolbox.
They need to articulate a new vision for what the WHM will be, if not the prime healer. Otherwise, it's a pointless and depressing job.
TIL: People who think Scholar will surpass WHM obviously haven't ever played Scholar.
Nope, and never be.
In 8 man content, boss will do much more damage and you'll likely to need a situation controllable healing power. In a full party, where you'll have full party with at least 1 BRD for Mage Ballad, WHM will use Cure II a lot more w/o Freecure. The ideal would still be WHM+SCH.
I agree i do believe that Both will be needed, there will always be situations where 2 SCH can not handle it, not just the 1 Cast Full heal of benediction alone, but
it feels like having a SCH/WHM makes the WHM much better, i tried it with friend, the spell speed but + our buff for spellspeed at 30 made my heals really fast, only
problem for WHM is mana, and i'm hoping that gets sorted with shroud of saints.
And if SCH ends up being to powerful i'm sure SE will nerf it, maybe make it so the fairys heal slower, god knows, not played SCH my self.
