Summoner Job And You!

I want a ninja with a black wolf.

I think the original development team stated that summoner would not be in this game. Instead be used in a dif. way. Possibly a quest that your char. can do, and you can unlock one of the 12 avatars. And summon it in battle for a high stamina/mp/tp skill.

Although I'm in favor of one-shot summons, I agree that spamming them would be annoying and diminish their uniqueness.

That's why I am in favor of summoning magic as a spell with 30sec+ casting time and cumulative effects:

This 'bubble' would last 5 secs or so while the final attack was underway, but the mob within could still be targeted and damaged by other party members during the sequence.

I would make this magic rather fragile so that if the summoner gets hit or moves, the field and its effects immediately end and the spell must be restarted. This would also force tanks to work very hard to keep mobs within the field and yet away from the summoner. Also the summoner's emnity could increase gradually as the spell is being cast, thus making it more difficult to maintain the spell.

In addition, avatars/primals could have different attacks depending on class rank, elemental affinity, and how long the summon was cast for. The SMN could stop their spell at an early point for a weaker attack or maintain it longer (costing more MP) for a more powerful attack.

It might be easier to just make a simple animation to show what I am talking about. Perhaps if I have time...

Zan's idea for summoner would work reallyy well with carpe's class idea. Shameless plug is shameless lmao ^^

if the avatars dont want to bend to our will then there should be some for of elemental summoner atleast or maybe even better.....use the other million summons they have made up or make up new ones thats arnt super all mighty demi gods there is much potential for story behind how you learned how to take them over and control them as well. as for summoners i prefer the control a pet style of play to that show up can leave idea but there is alot of potential to make summoner have a wide ability to summon. who says we have to summon the demi gods they are in this game?

You do realize that the story does not end there, FF just started, there will be more story coming up one day (expansions/patches). We might (probably) kick Ifrit's sorry ass at some point and make him regret of being a bitch toward us at the R38 mission, and maybe that's when summoner may be introduce.
