As far as I know, PS4 will have AMD CPU and AMD GPU (7970M), it wont be diffucult to port ARR on PS4, hardware-wise, since it's basically same as PC, only difference might be OS, but would be even more funny if Sony gonna use some special OS based on windows kernel or linux kernel :)
Considering the fact that PS2 games are still created to this day and sell well in Japan I don't think it matters
that would place the console at about $1000+ per unit. no one is going to pay that, except maybe Die Hard Sony Loyalists. last i checked those are drying up as fast as Sony tells lies.
besides sticking within the trends of consoles the past few generations the clear successor to the Nvidia 7900, would be the 4xxx Series by ATI. its the defacto generation leap chip pretty much.
SOny got locked out of the newer AMD tech, since Microsoft purchased rights to SOCX2/Soc2 which is a specialized Sytem on Chip 3 layer system. THe newer GPu Microsoft locked in as well Which is much faster then the 7000 series. Locked until it releases for PC that is.
Parts wise the ps4 will be cheaper to make, and can launch cheaper.
Sony will sell the PS4 at a loss like they did with the PS3.
They will make up they profits in game sales and licensing.
You can't sell games if nobody has the system, and game sales is where the money is at.
I see no reason to postpone launch. They can still add a PS4 version of it if they want when that launches. But also if PS4 did come out, it's going to be bloody expensive so it's not going to have a huge number of players for the first year, (like any new console launch) so that in of it's self with low sales on the PS4 wouldn't be worth it economically to SE i don't think.
