I think you totally missed the concept of a 1 stop portal for FFXIV.
Currently you log into the launcher and it tells you the game is updating. Now it's up to the player to open thier web browser and navigate to the lodestone or the forums to see what the update is all about.
it's an easy task.
however, it requires extra steps to find info. People are just lazy.
If the launcher became a more Play on Line like type portal. People would be able to navigate updates and other content while patching in thier game, without feeling like they have to search else where for that info.
A new lore update from the Herald, how many XIV fans do you think read that on the days it updated? How many do you think ever read it? I'm guessing very few.
Now if these updates were presented to the gamer upon logging in they would be more informed of lore being built for the game.
Same goes for all lodestone updates. It should be presented to the player upon logging in. With a system like PoL (not exactly like PoL) the access and delivery of information would be 100%.
