>.> I hope this means we'll get a judge/legatus class with gunblades =3
Not sure how we can become a empire class/job without being part of the empire. Not if you tell me a empire person came to eorzea and give us weps like what Cid is doing making us airship. I wont mind a gunblade if the storyline behind it make sense if it does not then no thanks.

In FFXII there are two judges who quit the empire. And so they quit their cool armor.
Otherwise it'd be like a nazi soldier who regrets being in the nazi movement, quits, and keeps wearing his uniform. It'd make no sense.
Also Judge/Legatus is a rank. You'd have to start out as soldier and rank up to get your weapon/uniform upgraded.
I doubt SE would put the resources to make a separate plot in which you can choose to aid with the empire and rank up bla bla bla.
Not to mention each Legatus is in command of 6k soldiers if I recall. :P
If Legatus armor were a really rare drop on the other hand... that'd be cool as hell.
Like having each judge have a hard mode fight (nael hard tier of difficulty), and each drops one piece of gear. We already have the earrings... that's one step in. lol
Personally I'd make the drop limited edition. But I see two ways that this could follow.
First Method: Limited editionThis isn't because I'm a hipster, but because otherwise we'd eventually have everyone dressed in judge gear.
- Beat the fight within a period of time set by SE since the fight was released in order to obtain the judge drop.
- If beaten after the period, the drop will have the same stats, but the drop will be changed to a non judge looking piece of equipment.
Second Method: Difficulty
- Make all fights HARDER than nael hard, and make them capped. So raising level caps don't mess with their difficulty.
- Doesn't matter when you beat it, you get the judge drop.
I guess people will prefer the second.
It was mentionned Legion soldiers are more loyal to their commander than to their Emperor.
They only kept fighting with Eorzean alliance thinking Nael was still alive and following his order till the end.
So, I don't think Nael's troops will swear allegiance to a new leader, the 7th Legion may be disbanded entirely.
A community manager also wrote that the japanese version of FFXIV didn't use the word "legatus" or "legion", it's only the result of the english adaptation. I think the german word was different too. It's probably better not to think over the accuracy of the Legatus system.
