Final Fantasy XIV: This time, we got it right
Final Fantasy XIV Forever
Final Fantasy XIV: Electric Boogaloo
Final Fantasy XIV: The rise of the Salad people
After thinking about it. It would probably be in SE's best interest if the Release of the PS3 version didn't include the first expansion and instead they waited at least 6 months after the first PS3 version ships before even announcing the expansion (while working on it before hand of course.)
This way they get the Re-review of the PS3 version, then yet another when the expansion comes out.
Final Fantasy XIV: Return of the Twelve
Final Fantasy XIV: The Burning of Gridania
The question with this is though that how many chances are people going to give FFXIV? If it turns out that the PS3 launch is another crash and burn, then who's to say that people won't be sick of hearing about it by then?
What worries me is that the higher ups at SE may be thinking that the PS3 release will determine the future of the game, and if it doesn't do enough to wow people, that the game might not go on longer.
I think they have 1 more big release to ether make it or fall into the category of "free to play" which is the MMO graveyard. I really want Square-Enix to go big on this one. They should be releasing some kind of large patch of content or expansion in parallel with the PS3 release. I just want to see a sneak peak you know! fan the rumor mill!!! Get people talking. Build anticipation.
I think after the battle system is updated, which is one of those critical to get correct in order to more forward tasks, they will be able to take a breather look up from the coding console and go "OK should we make some summons?, and whats going on with these chocobos do we ride them, or are they storage or what?"
