No, I just thought you were referring to the live letter going on after the final shutdown, when you were actually referring to in-game events.

I believe Yoshida said there would be a 1.23C which will prolly be the impact event.

The corps of the army attacking now is the remnants of van Darnus's army, who have basically gone rogue from the Empire. They're trying to wipe out any resistance so that Dalamud will fall and "cleanse" the planet. If Dalamud itself were to come into contact with the planet it'd probably destroy Hydaelyn.

I wonder if this patch is going to introduce changes to the landscape that was mentioned in the PDFs. This was supposed to happen sometime before 2.0 but nothing has really happened yet.

if they'd wipe all resistance then dalamud destroying the world would be pointless if they already killed everyone ...
and i highly doubt they would add landscape change before 2.0 .

Nobody ever said radical ideals were always the best thought out plans. :)

What was Kefka's motivation for destroying the world in FF6 apart from the fact that he was just purely a lunatic?

The world changes sort of began w/ the Twelve symbols popping up around Eorzea.
