Considering how classes and jobs work, Summoner will have access to all of the skills Arcanist does which means it will still have Carbuncle.

Books!
They read books!
Sorry I have to say this, if Arcanist uses books and goes on to summoner then how will my SCH ever happen!!!
Or if Arcanist is an enfeebler and goes on to summoner then how will RDM come about... think about it for a second.
But I would try SMN out.
BLM and WHM have both staff weapons (more or less) so whats the matter?..
WHM is a healer, blm a damage caster... well how a redmage could ever came out in FF11, eh? ;XD you know what i mean?Quote:

also redmages have melee attacks, which mages dont have. never the less, rdm was never a very powerful class if you ask me.. he was a mix between 3 different classes (BLM/WHM/Melee) so he was not very good in each profession except for refresh, of course.
personally im not sad about rdm's if they are not going to happen.

I am really afraid (when looking at the summoner artwork)
that we will be able to summon ifrit, garuda etc. like this:
Odin summoned FF11
which means... summon for just one attack and disappear. so carbuncle will be the ownly true pet for Summoner.
hopefully the translated presentation of today will clarify.
and for what is Fenrir and Siren Prime then? Prime Boss fights, no summon pets for the summoner?
I know, I know RDM has always had low level white and black magic, but making them an enfeebler in FFXI gave them something unique just a melee with low level white/black magic will not offer much unique in skills.
For SCH if I was thinking of a book weapon it would make a lot of choice for them to use it, what else could SCH use... hmm staves taken, clubs taken, books taken... and A4 ring binder? But eh lets not derail this thread even more, unless multiple jobs really will come from each class sometime.
Interesting enough. Books, huh? So I wonder if they're completely doing away with that odd staff idea, like the one Louisoux (the old man NPC) has.
Either way, I'm really liking this design. That coat is super awesome looking.
Personally kind of sad that Arcanist is a class shared by summoner job, just means that Arcanist is going to be a nerfed summoner who can use second wind.
