I need to vent about FFXIV as a whole at this point.

As a player who likes both sides, the raiding content + difficulty AND the story content, I don't mind the casual stuff... usually, because casual content is the story.

The writing from start to finish of this expansion has been abysmal.
The writing of the side quests, in particular the pelupelu tribe have somehow been even worse, so I don't even know how casuals are enjoying this because they certainly aren't playing for any challenge.

Imagine blaming casuals for the state of the game when DT's casual content is the hardest casual content we've got in a very long time.

Is it actually hard though? Or is it just that previous expansion content was (generally) so incredibly easy than even just the tiniest increase in mechanical complexity or frequency causes people to struggle because they’ve become so used to complacency being some universal job identity lol.

And before anyone says, I’m blaming the devs for spending so long releasing (dare I say) braindead content that most players don’t know any better, not players for somehow being inherently ‘bad’

if you call picking up a bag off the floor for a daily is hard then you're prob right.....

lol, most of the "crowd" feedback comes from people who came from Second Life and IMVU. Listening to them is a mistake.
If I had the power to turn things around I'd permaban all ugly modbeasts and return the game to how it was in Stormblood.

If by 'hard' you mean 'actually requiring the player to look at their screen while they play', then maybe...

I had plenty of friends in Stormblood that cared about RP and glam and housing.

The blame has never been solely on the "casuals".
The casuals didn't care about things like raid buff and burst window alignment, because they never knew wtf that was to begin with.

A lot of the job neutering is entirely on what I like to call "wannabe elite", people who want to be hardcore and get those shiny orange parses but don't actually want to put in the effort under the old system.
When you've had 90th percentile logs for the longest time it becomes very easy to blame this clunky job mechanic or that annoying DoT upkeep for your inability to reach 95.

Because of course it's not your fault, you're the best player that has ever graced this game, it's just the game screwing you over and the devs need to fix it for you.

Reading this thread, I'm really not sure where the idea that CBU3 listens to the casual player base and the game design suffered for it comes from. They don't listen much at all. They just make up weird ideas about the players and what we want. Even when we tell them to their face that's not what anyone wanted, they just shrug, give a half-assed excuse, and push through it anyway.

CBU3 is nothing if not insanely stubborn. There are tons of examples of them acknowledging feedback and then shrugging it off or ignoring it.
