If you don't like hats just DONT WEAR HATS. Stop pretending that It's against all logical reason for hrothgar to wear hats when miqote and even au ra can. And again, it's a fantasy game, it's not real. I get you seem to be deep into the role play, but saying hrothgar shouldn't be programmed to wear hats because it will hurt your ears is ridiculous

so what about miqo'te and au'ra?`

What upsets me is that there ARE HATS Viera's *can* wear. The Garlean hats with the flat tops? Viera can wear that. For whatever reason, there are certain head gear we can wear but not everything. It's so inconsistent... I'm always asking why? What makes this hat, the Zormor's head gear so different from astro's hat? Its fine if it clips. Design wise the flat cap Garlean hat looks silly but that didn't stop them for enabling the hat for the race so what gives?? I genuinely want to know..

If I were SE, I would contact the modders and work with them to implement some of the most used and the improvements/fixes they have. It's an overall major win for everyone involved and also most of the work is done anyway. All that would be left is to optimize.

To be fair it would be a nuisance for miqo'tes too and their ears are bigger (relatively speaking) than hrothgar ears, so it would be even more of an issue for them. Yet the devs made sure from the start that mi'qotes can wear every piece of headgear.
With their ears being smaller headgear for horthgar makes even more sense than miqo headgear to me because you can hide them much easier under hats and caps. Something they already did with Wuk Lamat.

I know, miqo'tes were a race at the launch of ARR so it would have looked really bad if (one of) the most popular races can't display headgear but it shows they know how to go the extra mile when it's "worth" the effort to them I guess.
And sometimes they do that extra work, e.g. when you look at the vanguard gear helmets with bunny ears or when elezen got special "ear pockets" on many knight helmets. Would it be so much harder to model simple openings for bunny ears (for future gear sets at least)?

I love this picture. The ears poking out of the hat adds so much appeal and actively makes the headgear look cuter. Purposefully incorporating viera ears into headgear design has so much potential for good-looking/charming results.

It's the hairstyles.

Hair has 2 versions, normal and a squished or ponytail hiding one, it's a little metadata toggle, you'll notice every hat and helm we can wear is one that hides hair completely.

Fun Fact! It's quick and easy to make hat versions in the shape data, modders have done it, I can do it, I WILL DO IT FOR FREE.

SE are just being lazy a-holes at this point.

I rather want unique sorts of clothing that would only be for viera and hrothgars if anything that is, some other way to stand out.

I think the main point here is loosing trust in the devs of FF14. It was said in ShB, that the amount of hats Hrothgar and Viera could wear would be adapted as time went on with ongoing patches. However, that promise never came to be. The silence on the teams side to not speak on that matter is speaking volumes. We are the entirety of ShB, EW and the first patches of DT in and the progress of hats and hair is minimal.
