So yeah, SE does take player feedback but while there is good feedback, there is also bad feedback. And they tend to take on alot of the bad feedback from people who have no concept of literature or game balance.



Uh?? Any thread that compares Wuk/DT to Lyse/SB have people definitively defending the latter.

If you want to hate DT, go for it. It's all subjective. But the presense of DT and Wuk Lamat does not suddenly undo 6-7 years of the forums dogging on SB MSQ and Lyse. You can literally look up MULTIPLE THREADS on this in the search results on these very forums.

Yes really. Because those are just examples.
The viper feedback was shot down by not a small amount of others in this same forum and people actually question where that large feedback that Yoshida implies came from, even on other sides.
BLM also. The amount of people that wanted a rigid rotation were far between the large amount that was just happy with the job.
And not many wanted the ice phase changes or Paradix removed.
But they changed it anyway.
Others have given more than enough feedback on how to change DRK but aren‘t listend to.

Also again, people weren’t asking for the WoL to be invisible.
Many just wanted to go back to adventuring nothing more.

On the Lyse matter:
Again most people just say that she was better in retrospect than they thought, nothing more.

Do your examples exist sure, but they are by far not the majority you try to imply.

If you read my other posts I agree that they listen to feedback. But at the end of the day the devs do whatever they want, nothing more.
Yoshida even says himself in the interviews that THEY tried all those things to look how people would react.
It was THEIR idea.

You confuse posters with parts of this feedback with the majority and even in those very same threads people disagree with each other.
It’s the job of the devs to sort through that stuff and find the right way. Leaning only to some small part of it is not the way though.

You wanna talk SB? Lets talk SB. SB was drawn out and badly paced, Zenos was unduly annoying with his forced victories even when you are objectively winning the fight, "Oh we've finally got all set for this event we've been building toward for the entire arc, go do some menial thing that any other person should have already done at this point in our schedule", Was Lyse the most compelling or interesting character? No. Did she completely steal the show and make the WoL irrelevant? No. I do remember however her admitting that she was not fit to be a leader and had that responsibility thrust upon her against her will and spending much of the expansion learning how to do it.

Wuk Lamat does not have Lyse's redeeming features. She does render the main character completely irrelevant and spends no time realising or fixing her unfitness to rule, instead she doubles down on the very qualities that make her unfit to rule, Lyse is disappointing, Wuk Lamat is insufferable. These are two very different things. DT doesn't make SB good, but it very much makes SB look good.

I don't mind being Alphinaud to Lyse, I do mind being random sidequest NPC to Wuk Lamat.

I propose that the WoL should have access to combat jobs removed after completing 7.0. Let Llama Tea, the main character, stand on her own while her dutiful servant makes supplies for her realm.

It's still wild to me that people find Viper too hard compared to other melee classes.

All I could think was, "Didn't people have that same opinion of every NEW job that got added to FF14 throughout its entire life?" --- "Isn't Viper simply new?"----- "What is hard about it? Sliding left to right just a hint to hide those positional like a Dragoon player or using True North that a chad?"

I said this as well. After finished DT I made an alt and was running through the MSQ, just finished SB. It was better than DT, like I can't think of a single thing DT did better than SB. I guess maybe the visuals of Solution 9? But then we go to the Living Memory, and it's just an Amusement Park that gives off Kingdom Hearts vibes. Like you can put an amusement park style zone in the game, but it needs to give off FF vibes not Kingdom Hearts.

Exactly. It's just felt like a very lazy expansion design wise.
Even the Pelu aren't original, just ripped from X.

To be positive, some of the new areas are bloody lovely visually, but are sadly devoid of a soul with the race designs.

I just had finished bringing my alt through Stormblood before Dawntrail dropped. Overall I was actually surprised at how good of time I had going through it again. The beginning is a bit of a slog before you get to Kugane, and going through the second have of The Lochs map was really irritating with all the constant backtracking and annoying terrain before unlocking flight. Lyse was never my favorite but she never really pissed me off either, she's just kind of...eh. So I though to myself, "you know, if all we get is 'just another Stormblood,' I'll be content with that."

Dawntrail is worse. It is so much worse. It is unfathomably worse. I found nothing to enjoy here. Even the two zones I was most looking forward to, Shaaloani and Solution 9, managed to bore me because they set up an interesting conflict and then ignored it. At least Shaaloani got us some much needed time with Erenville? There we go, one single compliment.

Final battle against Shinryu-Zenos. We cut his tail to do massive damage. THen we are hit by hellfire and cutscene goes off. Suddenly Lyse cuts through time and space yelling: Spee.... I mean Zenos! I understand. I truly do. And cuts his head off.
In SB we have got Yugiri and Gosetsu. Hien (my husbando #2), stupid namazu who people love for some reason. Hien, Yotsuyu, 2 new regions of Ala Mhigo and Far East. Semi-interesting shagin people, honorable pirates that i personaly found interesting, Asahi (be that post 4.0), Maxima, Gaius... Hien.
Ofc we have more MSQ to come. More possibly beloved characters and stories. But with current wrighting team, i do not belive in this game's future. Storywise.
I love MOST of job designs, Some issues can and will be fixed. I think we can all agree that new zones, dungeons and music are above the expectation (skydeep Cenote and Arcadion are my new favorites after 6 years!)
Team just have to accept the criticism and change the course. Unfortunately, i am afraid they got the *we are right players are just wrong because (insert the slur) syndrome.

Seriously, I hope they realize this. Anyone trying to shame anyone who has these sentiments as having 'main character syndrome' is completely surreal to me, given the game has always done a good job of giving your character plenty of moments to shine. It's not about being the center of attention 100% of the time, but it's about having a place in said story. I shouldn't be asking myself 'why am I here?' during the MSQ.
