I really don't want this. Unless they make so you're pets can't leave your inn room. I don't want to see every character running around with a pokemon chasing them. If you're into that sort of thing I hear wow has pokemon fights in it now.

I think vanity pets could be a neat idea, if they implemented them carefully. IMHO they would have to be on the small side, no big obtrusive critters with flashy animations. And I'd like them to be fairly ordinary and, dare I say, pet like. No mini floating eyes or tiny beastmen! I think ones like these would be fun:
Dodo Chick
Young Dormouse
Opo-Opo Follower
Dwarf Coblyn
Befriended Spriggan
As for framerate and lag and such in cities, well, I dunno. But other games manage it just fine, and XIV is getting a snazzy upgrade, so I think they should be able to handle it too. Just my 2 gil, though. :)
Yes, please add this SE! And for those of you who don't like the idea, you don't have to get them.
Well you don't need a pet. Simple. You are not being forced to have one. x.X I'm pretty sure it would be optional to have. So just because you don't like it mean others wouldn't want it part of their game experience... that's what we call selfish mentality.
I personally wouldn't mind vanity pets, because that's all they are for vanity sake. =D
And for those who don't want to see them period on their screens, its pretty simple... simply request as well from SE to apply an option to "remove vanity pets from being visible". I've seen such toggles before in Tera Online, so I believe it should be possible for SE to make something similar. There, everyone wins.
If you're going to do nothing more than throw the "if you don't like, don't use it XD" argument, then there's really no point in arguing. What's selfish is not accepting that some people don't want them in game. That's what selfish, making people who have an OPINION out to be the bad guys when we're just trying to voice our opinion, which we have just as much of a right to do as you. Just because you don't agree with us doesn't make us selfish, and a claim such is that is nothing short of ignorant. And if you're saying anything's okay "just for vanity's sake," then you surely wouldn't mind people having gigantic black and white wings, having an obnoxious fire effect on their character or any other sort of distracting and (oh my god) immersion breaking types of things.
