Standard operating procedure is:
1) Lock yourself into better defensive/self-sustain actions at the start of an expansion. These will not change over the next three years. When asked: 'It was always this way/too angry to die.'
2) When you realize that you've been penalized by 50 dps relative to everyone else during the first raid tier, start voicing complaints. When asked: 'A 50 dps disadvantage on a support job will lock you out of week 1 parties.'
3) Come out ahead on defensives, sustain, and dps.
The fact that we're already locked into #1 without any adjustments to the likes of Bloodwhetting or Holmgang doesn't bode well for the state of tanking in Dawntrail. If you have no interest in tanking on WAR, my recommendation is that you consider trying out a DPS subrole for the next expansion as a backup plan.
