Please reform the achievement system

Not sure how that has anything to do with what I said. I said that titles mean more to the people using them than everyone else. I don't care how oversaturated titles are, the one I use matters to me. Different titles matter to different people. I don't think there's such thing as too many, lest everyone have the exact same titles (before you say it, ~20% of players using a variant of the legend titles is not the same thing). And no, I don't stop looking at titles because 90% are meaningless. That's you.

There's a text command for it that you can make into a macro if you want. Just do /title set [insert title here] and it will switch to that if it's one you have. Or you can just do /title for a random one if you're feeling adventurous.

I'd say it's less that you're blanking creatively and more about the way this game is designed just doesn't support achievements like other games have. If you look at where they choose to add achievements in this game, it's almost entirely utilized to bolster the numbers of hardcore players repeating content far beyond what more casual players would do. In effect, this makes it so content never really dies and you always have a steady flow of people doing things so that newer players aren't completely cut off.

Some examples:
- Map Dungeon Completions
- Baldesion Arsenal/Delubrum Savage
- Achievement for every Relic weapon (Instead of just 1 like in ARR)
- All PVP
- Deep Dungeon Accursed Hoard

I don't think this design is necessarily a bad thing, even if some of these achievements are completely overkill, but where I do see it being a problem is how it takes over all aspects of the game, particularly solo content. Just to use a recent example, Island Sanctuary's achievements are just straight up garbage. With achievements like gathering 30,000 times and collecting 2500 crops/leavings, you're not making an interesting challenge, you're just creating another potential hook to keep someone subbed. Solo content is the place to have creative one-offs because you're only relying on yourself to complete the challenge and even if every other player completed it already, it'll always be there for you to take on whenever you want. Hence why fishing is the best content in the game :rolleyes:

This would absolutely inflate some egos, but we should be able to display achievement points on our adventurer plates.

I have a very, very strong suspicion that they use the achievement system as flags for other things. The reason ARR relic recreations require you have the actual weapon on hand to recreate earlier versions. But with one achievement per weapon, they have much more fine-grained control over what to offer you.

I'm 99% sure that most achievements are there just for their own record-keeping.

they can keep track of what they want without public achievements. Besides, stuff like 20k horde serves is not much of an indication of anything except perhaps obsession. I know someone who spent entire days just entering floor 11 of HoH, popping an intuition and leaving to get the achievement.

But why would they? They could add an additional field in the database OR they could use the existing achievement data and have to store half as much stuff. I imagine a ton of code now is driven off their achievement system to determine what you see.

This just comes down to having more meta-achievement title tracks so people can let you know that they're kind of a big deal. I think that having a list of titles on display runs the risk of having an Adventurer Plate come across as a CV, but they can always give you the option to do whatever you want in the space provided.

I'd personally just be happy if they came up with better sounding titles in general.

I've suggested this before, but what if we can share our achievement score on our adventure plates? Optional of course. There is no way to see anyone's score in the game itself. People would have to search on the lodestone or other websites to find that score. It certainly wouldn't tell us what we have been working at in particular, but it's nice to have a place somewhere in the game to share it. I think the adventure plate is the perfect location without being intrusive to anyone else's gameplay.

My idea was to have armour that you could collect piece by piece based on your achievment score. achievement points and that the final piece would cost say.. 25k points or something. So basically

500 points - guilded earing
1000 points. Guilded boots
5000 points guilded gloves
10000 points guilded crown
15000 points guilded pants
25000 points guilded chest plate
40000 points - guilded mount


Idk if it goes up to 40k rn but that already is a system that could reward people for continued farming
