I want to buy YoshiP a beer.

Did not read the thread, but I would totally love to buy him a drink of his choice ^^ While I worry sometimes about the direction that this game might take I believe he has made a massive improvement to the current state of the game and I have high hopes (and high expectations) about 2.0.

I started really hoping I will get into the beta today and after whatever NDA there is I look forward to reporting to all my friends that 2.0 is AWESOME!

i give the man and his staff credit for working hard, but i'm not going to praise him and say he deserves anything until 2.0 comes out. i want to see what he new game looks like and how fun it is before i start saying they deserve this and that for the work put forth.

that's like saying i want to buy tanaka a night on the town for all the hard work that went into the original release. yes, the staff put in just as much work on the original game, but we see the results of that work and the results were bad. i actually enjoyed the game more in january after release than i do now though.

i just want to see results before saying they deserve anything.

I don't see what the fuss is about either way to be honest and I see where people from both sides of the argument overstepped their bounds and pretty much asked for a backlash.

You don't have to insult or make assumptions about an entire community in order to praise an individual before or after they've delivered on their promises.

Regardless, since everyone's throwing their opinion out there I feel I should too.

I've always liked the game. There were aspects of it in the beginning that I found downright masochistic but both producers and both development teams seemed to share the same concerns as I did and those were soon ironed out.

Some things I miss, and wish were kept alive long enough to be fine tuned even though I think they should've done such fine tuning prior to release. Some of the changes I like, others I don't care for. Overall though I'm having a more enjoyable experience as the game ages. I don't think that I can personally state with any validity that I would enjoy the game more with Tanaka or Yoshida. A lot of the reasons why I like it more now is that there are more things to do, which would've happened regardless under both producers and teams.

In that vein, while I don't agree with their rhetoric, I'd have to put my hat in the ring with the "wait and see"ers. I'm not going to lie, I'm very excited about 2.0. I also love the openness of Yoshida with XIV as compared to Tanaka from XI. That I can sincerely contribute to the man himself at this very moment in time, but in regards to my love for the game... 2.0 will be Yoshida's game and it'll be judged accordingly. With how he's communicated with the fanbase and the things I've seen about 2.0, I can honestly say I'm just as excited about XIV as I was in June 09' when it was announced at E3. I still feel it'd be more respectful to praise him for "his game" (which will be 2.0) which is why I too, am withholding judgement.

As it is now though, there's no personal reason for me to think that 2.0 won't be great. I'm very excited. I'm also expecting things not to go absolutely smoothly come launch day though. Being reserved isn't necessarily not giving respect, and it shouldn't be spun to seem that way. No need to generalize individuals based on your own perceived differences of the culture you think they're apart of.

This is why I'm the doom and gloom person, I have some, but not much. If it fails, I'll be like "WELP told ya so." if it does well, I'll be like "Welp, I didn't tell ya so, afk playing ffxiv" of course that's in my eyes. Fail to me is different from the next person. As people said FFXIV failed at launch, I enjoyed myself playing it.
