Can we get an in-game notice for Auto-demolition

So let me ask you a simple question, and this is not a matter of my opinion, I'd like to know your opinion.

Let's say I got a house, and I dont ever use it 45 days, then I see the pop up that you ask for, I go to the plot, remove auto demo, then ignore it again for 45 days, rinse and repeat.

Do you think I am making use of the house I got ?

How one uses their house is their business.

I'm not in favor of people holding on to housing they don't use. I have a friend who had been paying his sub for years logging in once in the 45 day period to renew the house so he could continue to live close to a good friend he's known for years who was an active player.

I never personally understood why he did that given he wasn't using it, wasn't playing the game and he finally relinquished it when his friend died about a month ago.

I think if people aren't going to use their houses they should give them up but whether or not people are notified of the impending demolition by mail or in game isn't the issue. SE's intent is to let them know its going to happen and the methods they use are up to them ultimately.

As a side note the house of that friend is now being preserved as a memorial to that player who had quite a following in Novice Network. He is dead but they want to keep that house there as a memorial. Whether or not someone is actually going to use that house I do not know but they do plan to enter it with his account to keep the house there.

Thank you for giving me your opinion, and obviously SE doesnt mind it, there's a reason why a "popup" timer hasnt been implemented, email and timer tab are good enough. But I'll agree to disagree so we dont run in circles

I think that changes a lot though, I think houses like these should be "forced" out of auto demo so they stay in place no matter the timer.

Oh yeah, we're getting a new DC. Totally forgot about that, seeing how dead the new worlds already are for housing. In my ward it's my FC and like 2 more people, so there is a loooot of plots available (private too).

I actually have a house like this next to my LB plot, tagged "In Memoriam" it's beautifully done inside and outside, as I said above houses like these should just be immune to the auto demo timer, I think it's done for an infant that has passed away and is decorated around it, it's actually very pretty.

Not OP, buuuut, no, I do not believe you are using the house. SE's system should be that you have to use the house twice on two separate days within that 45 day period in order for it to reset the autodemo timer. The autodemo timer warning popup should exist as a way to let the inactive house owner know what's inevitable.

Say you have a house IRL (which I do) and you neglect to pay your mortgage or rent. Do you think the bank/landlord is going to accept a single payment every 45 days? No, payments are at least monthly. Do you think the bank/landlord would accept some sob story about how you're too busy to pay your contractual obligation? Not at all.

Same with owning a house in FFXIV. SE is the bank/landlord. The gil you bought the house with was your downpayment and your rent/mortgage is to pay with your time to enter the house once every 45 days. They even warn you in advance of what will happen if you're late on payments.

In conclusion, this thread is a farce, and everyone is wasting their time here.

I suppose they should stop email notifications as well to satisfy the take it away crowd. SE's intent is to LET PEOPLE KNOW the house is about to be demolished and this is just another way of letting them know.

If the house was important to the player, they'd be actively using it and there would be no need for the demolition notice.

If they aren't using it, it's not important to them at all. Better for the house to be demolished so it would go to a player who would consider it important enough to use on a regular basis.

Another way of letting players know their house is about to demolition isn't going to be any more effective when they're already ignoring the 2 notifications that do exist.

That is a bad analogy. A better analogy would be those municipalities that will seize properties that are not maintained to the local codes then auction the property off to a new buyer who will (presumably) take better care of it.

I don't care about any sob stories posted here-if you're not using a house, you don't need it. Feel like a lot of people here (rightfully) complain about how hard it is to get a house, but then some finally get it, don't use it, and then turn around and act big spitting in the face of the people who are still trying by going "its no ones business what i do with my house" you're not doing anything with it. You can't even be bothered to go inside it. We see these threads every lottery. People devastated about losing. We see people hoarding whole wards and agree how unfair it is. You're not any different because you're only hoarding one house instead of 10. If you cannot stand to even step inside your house one time in two months, you cannot stand your house. Let it go to someone who will enjoy it, unlike you.

And no, these people don't need any more bells and whistles to remind them to come step in. You get notified 3 different ways. If you're so busy that all 3 of those don't work, then you're too busy to have a house.
