Why yes SE, I would like to have recolored and undyeable Cryptlurker weapons that came from last expac, thank you so much. Oh sweet, recolored 5.3 gear in Ktiseos that still can't be dyed for reasons beyond mortal comprehension, thank so much. And bless you for the undyeable Dun Scaith armor in this patch's new expansion, just what the doctor ordered. Oh and my goodness, I almost forgot the third set of shire gear we got this expac, how silly of me.

Tbh the very last thing we need are more nun robes. If anything, I'm still salty they gave the most RDM looking set to the SAM, because Twelve forbid a caster not wearing a dress.

More on topic, I agree. I personally like butt capes, but many times they have no business being part of the chest slot, specially if they're visually disconnected from it (Paglth'an sets, for example), and we already have a handful of items that are the skirt alone so it can be done, they just chose not to, for whatever reason.

More on topic, I agree. The butt capes (which I am very sick of and would love to just rip right off the sky pirate caster set) do have a technical reason for being attached to the top and no the bottoms if I remember correctly. It has something to do with how the models fall, things that are attacked to the leg slot have to cling to the model fairly closely so they do not clip with the top at any point, which might not be so bad but I have a feeling when a character starts running or walking it would look rather strange. If attached to the top though they are given a much wider radius to billow out and move while running and look more natural.

iirc I think it has to do with rigging or something, every model has the same bones for the big skirts even if that gear doesn't have a skirt. So they mostly just make stuff that fits the mold.

Every skeleton has those skirt bones, otherwise skirts wouldn't work, but you can simply not rig the model to said bones and it will completely ignore them.

There is no technical reason why all the gear has some kind of skirt or cape attached to it nowadays, it's just a weird design decision they made.


As a side note, the reason capes look so awful in this game is because there aren't actually any "cape bones" the cape is just rigged to the character's spine and leg bones.
