What do players even do during ERP ?

If you are curious go spectacte in Balmung.. it's a freak show.
But it's been happening in MMO's since Ultima Online.

During Extreme Raid Parties you type funny strat names during the first few minutes such as:
Elmo Nado
Myta Nado
Far War
Updog
Ew Fourfold

Finally my time to shine. Okay what you first do is

So I do have a story what it's like or why people do it. I've never done it before but I've been friends with people who have.

So this story takes place back when I was playing City of Heroes/Villians so this is about...15 years ago? Anyway one of the zones was a zone called Pocket D which was an interdimensional zone owned by a powerful DJ that opens up a no violence Nightclub where both Heroes and Villains can hang out and not actually murder each other. It was also apparently THE place to do ERP. At the time I had no idea what that was but I was soon to find out from a friend.

So I was a hero and she was a villain and we noticed that we would see each other often in the club so we started talking. After about a month of meeting up on occasion she asked if I ERPed and not knowing what that was I asked in which she told me. I told her I had a GF at the time so it wouldn't be something I'd be comfortable doing even if it was non physical. She told me that it was OK and then we just continued talking. That's when she told me she comes here often to ERP and I asked how long she has done it and what got her into it. She told me due to having AIDS she didn't have much a chance for real physical contact with people unless they were afflicted with the same thing. So I do think this was before internet dating was really a thing or it had just started to take off so there wasn't much a way for her to match with someone that would be safe for each other.

After that I asked her how it all worked and the short and SFW version of it is they just speak to each other in private and describe what they look like and what they are doing. Kinda like phone sex hotlines but it's all in text. They can either be their actual selves and using the avatars as a focal point or they can do everything in character.

At least that's my understanding of everything from what I was told.
