We Need to Start Expecting Mid-Level Sprouts to Play Better

I run a healer main, and even run tanks, but I am a timid tank so I dont play them much since, I prefer healing.

the ONLY expectation I have in duties etc.. is that you repair your gear. I can heal through stupid. and soon will be able to repair people with those kind of issues

played enough with enough randos that I really have no expectations of any kind of skill having seen all types. and thats fine. I will roll my eyes about it after, but having seen every kind of skill level... I dont expect excellence, nor do I stress if its missing. I just enjoy playing the game, and the game includes people who dont try. once you realize that, gaming becomes a lot more fun.. since everyone isnt me, nor should I expect them to be.

This is pretty much my take on it. If I'm under lvl 70 and people are at least making an effort and taking constructive criticism I'll have patience for days.

But after lvl 70 the gloves need to come off at some point.

Well since you're not a healer main, I will give you a piece of advice. This happens. Sometimes we are going to have to do this. I have times I rarely touch anything but my dps abilities and times I am healing constantly. The majority is somewhere in the middle. Either of the other two are outliers. Your original post said this wasn't an isolated incident. All I can say is my experience is the opposite. The outliers are isolated. They happen here and there. We adjust and we most likely never see those people in roulette again. And I'm not sure if you're accurately gauging what is and isn't fair effort on our part. You can speak to the tank side. I will tell you that sometimes we have to step up and do more than the bare minimum because our team is depending on us. If that's not something you can do without feeling resentful, then maybe the healer role isn't for you.

Doing the tanks job for them isn’t being a resentful healer, it’s expecting the minimum competency from another player, you know exactly what this thread is about

I also know it's being blown way out of proportion and if the OP is experiencing this in every run, then maybe they should look at the common denominator and determine if there is something lacking in their own play. This is not some epidemic in the game. It's an occasional enough thing to the extreme the OP is talking about that it's a complete non-issue and not worth getting worked up about.

People playing a class so blatantly wrong at any level above 50 is the rule not the exception at this point, tanks that single target YPYT, I only heal healers, DPS that don’t know what a rotation or what an oGCD is, people refusing to adapt to advice; it’s rife in any content harder than crystal tower

Not trying to be that guy, because yeah that tank you ran with was just being very unreasonable but isnt trying to keep somebody alive actually considered "fun" for you healers who shout at how bored it is to do 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1 during content?

Anyway, lower expectations and you'll have less disappointment in life. :cool:

So like.

Keeping someone alive while they do their job is fun.

Keeping someone alive by needing to blow through all your resources and then resorting to spamming 11111111111111 in the form of heals? Nah.

The OP isn't talking about expecting every player to be a sweaty savage progger, I think it's reasonable to expect basic ability to breath and press buttons. I do Hunts every night and we still lose a dozen people to Eye Doom attacks EVERY night (and these are people I see at the Hunt every night, they literally die to the same mechanic every single night of the week), I don't think it's unreasonable to have learned what a stack marker is by L90. There's a quite small but nonetheless existing minority of people who have absolutely zero, nil, nada ability to function in the game. While we don't rage at them it IS on them to sort themselves out, if they want to participate in the MMO side of things with other people. Also, we're not talking about that guy with slow reflexes because of a medical issue or whatever, we're not talking about someone in Sastasha for their first time (or even HW dungeons) we're talking about the jackass in his post.

If I come across some guy playing a Gunbreaker in a L60 roulette and he says "first time playing tank" I am totally fine with him being a mess.

All the people raising objections are just being contrarian, the OP is talking about expectations that are WAY WAY below even basic competence, that isn't being rude or unreasonable (assuming you aren't being actually rude yourself back).

I do agree that the number of these sorts of players you encounter isn't really that high in any way, but it doesn't alter the fact that it does affect other people and then we're onto the other argument where it's "oh you shouldn't get annoyed". We expect people to be polite in chat because you don't know how you're going to affect someone, this isn't really any different.
