I have heard people say that they bought gil before. However, by the same argument do you go around assuming everyone who has millions of gil bought it? That argument is a bit of a stretch considering how expensive it is. You really think that people are spending hundreds of dollars on gil for their characters? I don't, I consider that type of behavior quite extreme and so I'm willing to wager that most people do not do it.

Now if gil was suddenly maybe as difficult to come by as FFXI, while at the same time being relatively cheap on RMT websites and you had a bunch of new(ish) characters running around with E-bows, Scorpion Harnesses, and Brigandine armor then I would be suspicious of them. This is what happened in FFXI. It hasn't happened in XIV to my knowledge since there is not currently any way that RMT/botters can vastly outpace legitimate players in earning gil enough that it causes a shift where suddenly earning gil becomes a big challenge and buying gil is cheap enough to entice people who wouldn't normally go so out of their way to cheat.

Whether you are downloading a bot (given the well known risks to account security/hacking etc.), or paying hundreds of dollars for in-game currency you are taking such extreme measures to cheat that most people are likely to just stick to legitimate methods since they work and have a good enough return for their time.

How so?
If server A starts off with 10 billion gil
and server B starts off with 0 gil

Then with a balanced economy and equal policy you can expect that both servers gain or lose gil at the same average rate

So no matter what, server A will always have 10 billion gil more than server B

And when devs have to decide how to price things, do they price them for server B in which case everyone on server A can buy it easily while people on server B consider it a serious investment, or do they price it for server A and then everyone on server B can't afford it.

Similarly when they release an event like hamlet defence which they intend as a gil source, do they reward 10k per win (which would fit with server a but quickly inflate server b) or do they price it at 1k which would fit server B but be useless to server a.

this isn't about entitlement or anything like that. Its about economics. So far, FFXIV's economy is a mess because SE doesn't understand economics. And i'm pointing out that by introducing fresh-start servers they will make a currently bad situation worse.

No one on new servers will ever reach the amount of gil on old servers because 90% of the gil on old servers was exploited.

Why would the new servers needs to reach old servers amount of gil? you dont really purcharse anything from NPC and price at wards/AH will adjust accordingly.

She's running off the assumption that when SE adds anything economy related, they will have to base it off one of the economies, either the old pre 2.0 or the fresh start servers.

Which is completely idiodic considering the players control a majority of the economy anyways.

They don't need. What they can't make themselves they can buy from others.
It is not 2010 anymore, where you needed 10 crafting parts or a lv 30 blacksmith to craft a lv 20 blacksmith tool.

In the end, the new "fresh start" servers (if there ever are any) would do exactly what we did two years ago. Start with nothing and work your way up. Hell, they may even have an easier time of it.

It already is easy in the current old servers for new players to catch up, because gil is rarely an issue.

I meant with the crafting of gear.

When you take two years ago, when you had to collect so many different parts just for a level 8 harpoon and compare it to how simple it is to create the same harpoon today, they have an easier time of it.
