Getting an Error at launcher bootup

Ugh, I want to cry. After about 50 retries, I got a login prompt and typed my password wrong. Now I'm back to the same problem.

Unfortunately this isn't the issue, considering myself and several others definitely have subs that aren't on the Free Trial, and probably haven't been in the the last few years. Glad to see it worked for you though!

I still had some time left, but it was like only 4 days left. I just added another 30 days, so I guess I just wait and see if that fixes it.

No etc folder, no free trials. Been sub for around 6 months. If somebody can shed some light on this

A few hours ago was normal, but now i'm getting the error on the laucher.
I use the steam version

I don't have folders with that name...

Summer sales overloaded steam. Technically you can try to login with spamming the cogwheel until it shows something otherwise you'll have to wait it out.

It isn't a problem on your end.

Edit:

Spam the cogwheel in the upper right of the launcher, then hit the back arrow to go back to login. Repeat this process until you get the login field.

I don't think you were having the same problem that everyone else is having, but thank you for the encouragement :3

This is almost certainly due to an outage in Steam. See: https://steamstat.us/ Steam Web API is down, and I'm sure that's how SE is validating our licenses are real. I suspect this will continue until Steam Web API is back up.

Updated my prior post. It isn't a user problem, just do what I posted in bold until steam calms down.
