Support for FCFS housing in 6.1

It is binary, there are a finite number of houses and there are nowhere near enough for everyone who wants one. Any wards split up into FCFS to cater to people who specifically want that system are wards and houses not available to the Lottery system. It's not advocating for FCFS in addition, it's asking for wards to be removed from the more fair lottery system so that a few people can have a better shot at getting a house personally.

There are numerous sources entailing this issue- feel free to Google "FF14 housing crisis/issue/shortage/savage" and reap the results. Reddit, various gaming sites, gaming news articles, Discord server groups all regale the horrors of the current housing system. Heck the front page of this forum is filled with complaints about the FAILURESof the current system.

SE is well aware of the issues. SE has commented on them, made changes recently to relocation and has stated that they think the lottery is the way to proceed. :cool:

You guys are trying to turn this around by saying there are all kinds of issues, but I was making a comment about logging in and the server issues, not that there isn’t any problems regarding HOUSING log in/server issues for 5.2

So on this issue ONLY, what kind of issues did you or anyone else have logging in when the servers came b ack on line for patch 5.2??

There was none, please google that question yourself. So if 5.2 FCFS had four cities open up at 3 wards each and had no issues, why are you all crying about server/long in issues for the upcoming 6.1 patch? There is no reason why they can’t have at least 3 wards open for FCFS.

Going to lol once they announce FCFS for a few wards. It only makes sense and remember you have the Japanese and European players commenting also on this issue.

YOSHI-P: Please take away the multiple houses from players and FC and reimburse them we need the extra housing space for new players, along with opening between three to six wards for FCFS. That amount is only 12.5% to 25% of the total ward space of Ishgard.

3 wards for FCFS mean 3 less wards for a fairer more inclusive lottery system. That reason alone should be enough to say no FCFS at all

Where on earth are you getting that impression from what I've said?

I know log in when the patch releases will be a mess. It always is for the major patch releases even without a housing drop. It gets even worse when there is a housing drop.

I feel like you don't understand the point I was making there.

I understood what you were saying, Jojoya- I was pointing out to Fenril7 what you'd said about how queues were when the last house patch dropped, and how it will likely be just as bad, if not worse for the upcoming one.

Best to worst systems:

Instanced - Lotto - FCFS.

Unfortunately the 1st one doesn't exist in this game :(

For God’s sake, FC room and Apartment is instanced, just not what you are looking for does not mean they are not instanced.
Also bring up Wild Star and Rift as example is also absurd, two dead games because no one wants to play and EOS is already on life support
If these games have same population size as WoW and FF14 they too are going run into same problem and will not be able to offer “instanced” to everyone

My apologies then - your response after your quote of my reply made it appear you were responding to me.

I come back through here every now and again to see what, if any, progress has been made with Housing in FFXI, and every time I come back there isn't any meaningful change on the horizon. Now the solution will be a lottery system. Better than what we had, not as good as what we could.

What I don't understand is the resistance against adding to the instanced versions of housing, both on the part of the players and the devs. It seems like such an obvious solution - those who really just want to have *access* to the things that are missing get what they want, and the people who like the big empty wards around them get their neighborhoods. The instances are already there in the form of apartments. Where does this need for the houses to be 'more useful' than the apartments come from? I thought it was about having the experience of a neighborhood. Isn't that what the argument has been against instancing all this time - that we want to keep the neighborhoods? Then keep them. I don't care. And you shouldn't care either about what you aren't seeing me do or not do in my little slice of instanced FFXIV paradise.

I have a house now, but I'd give it up in a heartbeat for an apartment that had access to gardening. Then someone who cares about having some ERP strip club next door can live the dream and I could stop setting an alarm to make sure I enter the stupid building every 30 days.

The whole system is just such a mess.

The big problem with this whole discussion is that one side is arguing for there to be *enough* for everyone and equal opportunity for all. The other side is arguing for many to go without so that a few can have more opportunities and resources than they even use. It's such a lousy attitude.
