Nah it wasn't roleplaying. He basically had them all on follow, I've been on RP trains before it definitely wasn't it lol. It was like if you had like 7 chocobo companions or minions on follow all at once.

By principle botting in general is against the ToS and something that can enforced, but it's generally not going to be directly interfering with your gameplay unless you get someone using a poorly programmed bot in duty finder or someone multiboxing in PvP.

Ahh ok, yeah fair. I feel like it's just hard to report someone botting from a player's perspective. Not like they're going to say it in the chat and unless they're cheating like how you described, might as well not even bother.

It seemed that for a time the RMTers were abusing the level skips to get gil because I was seeing level 50 accounts using Ironworks gear teleporting through the ARR MSQ. I haven't seen much of them in general lately, but they're clearly around somewhere for the ban figures to be as high as they are.

But it's less those guys I'm concerned with and more the people abusing the marketboard with automated crafting/gathering

I was looking more for the WoW Token form of RMT, but I suppose you can kinda squint and call a level boost a 'legal RMT' purchase instead. One could, this expansion, take in 8.5 million gil doing it, at a cost of over $425.

I've used a level boost on an alt and would only consider it to be Gil for Real Money on a technicality, given how quickly it gets spent on gearing alone.

I spent the half-million gil I managed to accumulate through Market Board and quests, back when there was only ARR, to help my FC purchase the mansion at the top of the hill by the waterfalls in Lavendar Beds.

Because they don't have a solid fanbase. Need to show off for potential customers, build up the cash shop, establish the whales, and then coast until the server shutdown! The fun thing about f2p games is that the cycle is faster! Enjoy your new game!
