Did he say they absolutely would? I know during the media tour when the auras were brought up he said they were taking up too much memory, but he'd have the team look into re-implementing them. No definite "yes they're back" that I've heard, but I do not hear everything.

Yoshi-P talked about it during his interview with Drakgamestein during the Media Tour. You can find his response here. Basically, gotta check with the team to see how much memory it'll take, see if they can add it back in, nothing guaranteed.
