I left Castrum when the group would not kick a healer with their Conj stone. That’s right. The group was still pulling like normal but the Conj couldn’t keep up heals. I did a kick and it didn’t pass (keep in mind other players were straight up complaining about the Conj in there but didn’t kick them). So I left.
I’ve even had a tank and dps in A level 40 dungeon wear gear 20 levels below it to “troll the healer” which was me.
Yeah you get all types
I don’t like to kick players but I will if they are clearly AFK or doing something to troll the group (like a BLM who never used an AOE spell once)

Pff I was kicked once for asking how to zoom out lol

Nope
The only times that really strike as noticeable to me is when I was a new player to the game back in 2014~ when I didn't really understand it. I'd imagine I was quite a pain on the 30-52 level bracket, but I eventually caught up - I don't remember if I were undergeared as such. But I definitely do recall finding myself getting gear gated by Steps of Faith.
I've only ever been kicked in Heaven on High.

Haven't been kicked since I came back, but in HW there was a stretch when I said I was learning a dungeon and tanking where I'd get the boot rapidly. No comments, no advice, just boot when the timer enabled it.

I honestly don't know if I've ever been kicked from a duty...at least not that I recall. If I did it was probably for something else since I typically go for the highest(not necessarily BiS) gear I can get for my jobs.

Back in 3.0 days, I got kicked for having savage gear in a dungeon, the person actually said "looking at your gear I know what kind of player you are".
It happened after I corrected the tank on something they said that was incorrect, something like monk doesn't have good aoe skills, and I felt that was a direct attack on me because I was actually doing the most damage in the party. I wasn't mean or toxic about it but being red DPS and correcting someone is always risky, so that comment probably made newer players believe them for the kick.
Game can be a small world. I actually re-met this same player in Stormblood randomly in a PF, and helped them clear the current extreme primal. No hard feelings, held myself to the standard I originally set :)

i got kicked from Sohm al pulling out wrong turret once

Never been kicked, but I have been scolded for bringing patchwork green/pink gear on an alt job. We finished in decent time. I understand the annoyance, but the people I was with didn't care enough to wait for a replacement. Generally getting kicked is better than making you leave since you get no punishment for it (you can immediately requeue).

I have never kicked anyone over their gear but I have left groups over gear. Healing a tank with mostly 130 poetics gear in late Stormblood lvling dungeons is not fun. I don't mind carrying players to a degree. Everyone is new at some point, has a bad day or just makes silly mistakes. I don't expect perfection. But I won't put myself through breaking my back healing a tank made of tissue paper because they expect the healer to make up for their laziness with gear. This has not happened to me often but each time it has the player wasn't even new. They had several max lvl classes. They knew exactly what they were doing. One even had the cheek to accuse me of laziness because I didn't want to heal them lol.
Good on OP for understanding their mistake when it was pointed out to them.

No never been kicked. I had a new tank who said "BRD LEAVE THE GAME" I think this was in copperbell mines. The Summoner's pet was killing the slimes and he thought it was me.
I just found it funny and then the Summoner spoke up and said they where new. I felt sorry for the summoner, it did not bother me I have played a long time and now I am thick skinned.
I would not kick for low gear or bad play as everyone starts somewhere and I am not a arsehead.
The only time I left was a few weeks back in PVP because it was awful and I had no patience lol
