What concerns me is reading that it's solo content and there will be _some_ communication. Am I misunderstanding that this Island Sanctuary is not really aimed at being group content and you'd be pursuing something alone?
Because if that's the case -- though I really ♥ the idea of lower-stress content aimed at non-raiding players (not everyone has the time/reflexes/connection/ability to play uninterrupted) -- the primary appeal to me for any content is the ability to SHARE it with other people. It's an MMO! I want to invite people to play WITH me who have a range of interests -- and not everyone I'd want to spend time with here would be interested in raiding. Being able to share goals is, I feel, very important to building relationships and community. Adding content that you /can/ do alone is fine. There are single-person FCs out there. But I very very much want cooperative content, so that in pursuing this new thing, I can do it WITH my friends.
Diadem feels cut off with the way it's done. I don't understand why I shouldn't be able to open up my linkshell or FC windows to manage things while I'm doing stuff in there. I really don't want to see the same thing with this content. If it's a fundamental coding thing, I can accept that--but I think it hurts some core elements of FFXIV as a gaming community.
It's one of the main appeals I find in the Ishgardian Restoration FATES--shared time, even though it feels like more like primordial soup time. Otherwise crafting/gathering feels very siloed unless I'm helping friends HQ something they don't have the stats/levels to hit or lending materials. Workshops are now solo--which in many ways is a good thing--but it does prettymuch negate the reason for sharing time as crafters, especially if you're an omnicrafter.
