As to your original post, whenever I miss FFXI, I just Youtube the ole' West Sarutabaruta theme.
It's funny, now that I'm a grown-up, I'm /amazed by the sheer volume of hours I spent in Vana'diel.. But somehow it makes me sad knowing that people can level up jobs so quickly now. I just remember that feeling of having reached Lv. 30 for the first time. Funny, It doesn't even affect me. I wouldn't do it again, yet it still feels wrong. Talk about flawed logic! ;)

When I could finallly hit 20 and could finally shout for someone in the dunes to guide me to Jueno. Was a fun run, and running through the cave in Qufim lol.

Oh my gosh, Matt, those effin' sand bats!! And yeah, that run to Jeuno, I remember actually breaking a sweat. And then you get to the city, the Final Fantasy equivalent of what I'd imagine the first steps on an Ivy League campus must feel like.. I loved Jeuno. I felt so cool. /shame

I remember having to find a way around those stupid bats in the cave near the very first EXP camp in Valkurm Dunes. Nostalgia +1.

And then there was that walk of shame all the way to La Theine Plateau with two sand bats and a Goblin Leecher behind you. And that moment of triumph when you'd zone on the next screen with like, 14 hit points left. Nostalgia +2.

I remember being trapped on the other side of the bat cave for 2 days straight. My HP was set at the craig I braved the dunes to get, which at lvl.9 was a completely unnecessary act in hind sight. 7 hours of my life standing there pleading and begging the unseen powers that some PT would happen by and kill them for me or some high level would have mercy and clear the path. At one point I AFK'd to take a must required bathroom break and when I came back I noticed in the chat log someone had stopped an asked why I was just standing there and if I needed help to get through. I flew to the /tell command to reach out to my salvation. A few minutes later he showed up having turned back from RONFAURE and guided me through safely back to Sandy.


Gave me a link pearl. The same one I was in 3 years later when I was traveling through that white hot hellhole to catch a boat when I saw a Mithra just sitting in the sand staring at the same cave lol Helping her through that 20 seconds of aggro noob seeking cave of death felt better then getting my relic cape to drop.

Seriously, i stand by my argument. Level 50 is like level 37 in FFXI,
and you're not going to see any really epic things until 2.0
At least the second part is a fact. The first is just some simple math if the eventual cap is as has been stated numerous times, 99.
