I know wow is ffxiv biggest competitor. But why do people feel the need to be like. "this expansion is like this wow thing" you are comparing two different fruits

Great community, BTW
I was getting some of them flat Earth map vibes...
I mean, our equivalent of the Cataclysm already happened. Only it was Bahamut screwing up all the aether and thus changing some landscapes, like the nuclear winter going on in Ceorthas.
Ford =/= Chevy, stop comparing these vehicles
Playstation =/= Xbox, stop comparing these consoles
McDonald's =/= Burger King, stop comparing these fast food places
What a silly thing to say... They're both MMOs, what else are we supposed to use as comparison?
They're both MMOs, they aren't different fruits. It's comparing apples to apples.
@OP
Yes, I'm seeing a quite a few changes that are disturbingly similar to Cata. Most especially the skill/spell pruning they did for ShB.
To be honest I had vibes of The White Frost from The Witcher series, an unstoppable force of white (light here, ice/cold in Witcher) that will envelope everything. But I don't think SE took that from them and I wouldn't say SE took this idea from WoW either since we've had elemental calamities in lore described before WoW Cata. Maybe there was some inspirations, as Yoshida has said he's seen some things he liked, but I doubt it's to any level to give WoW full on credit for.
As long as SE is inspired about things that are cool I'm fine with whatever, like we all know they are greatly inspired by ancient history and at least I love that. Still doubt this expansion was a "oh look at Cata", but it wouldn't bother me if Yoshida did say Cata had some influence.
/shrug lol :)
