Tanks are the job that do the least in royal, though. one of you tanks the boss, the rest sit in dps stance until that short time when they tank an add in a corner. And tanks can survive some of the mechanics, like the second boss's rush, long enough for the healers to save them.

I've just run into the problem that the DPS checks aren't being met because either DPS didn't dodge the stuff or they aren't burning down adds that need to die. DPS die, checks aren't met, Healers can't keep up/run out of MP and Tanks are well fuck me.

Won't surprise me if it takes a week or two for the DPS community to learn everything.

Possibly longer. It's heavy on the DPS checks and dodging. Between the DPS and healers struggling to keep up it may take longer.

Friend thought it would be funny to que us up for it while I was cooking. He screamed on Discord that we got our que (which I thought was V4) and it was the raid. He said stick around see the pretty first boss cause we probably wouldn't get far. We cleared it. I was on BLM so I thought it would be crazy hard to contribute but even with all the moving I was generally second if not top DPS.

I've liked what I've seen so far and the groups I've been with had no issues with sticking around. I did find the second boss to be the hardest. Not so much the mechanics themselves but from a relatively small field of view with lots of large things blocking what you can see. I generally play with more of a top down view and it was near impossible to get that there and be able to see the whole area. Nothing that can't be overcome it is it will just take longer to build up the whole picture.

i kinda love it *because* nothing really happens. Adds a bit to the 'raid' feel imo, makes the place seem bigger and more epic to me. Would be cool to see some puzzles in those segments though imo.

I think it may be due to players being use to steam roll content from late Heavensward. Not saying Heavensward Void Ark was cake, but at the last few months it was easy to steam roll with superior gear. This dungeon is indeed a wake up call for those who think they can cheese the fight by avoiding mechanics. I also want to pitch in that I am not crying about the difficulty of the dungeon. I like difficulty. I am pointing out that the players of today seem to be expecting steam roll content and have too high expectations out of these 24 man PUGS to understand the mechanics right when they happen.

It...really hasn't been that bad. I've been able to clear in every group I've joined. The only real issue people are having is with the 2nd boss, which has a bit of a steep learning curve. Sometimes it's cleared after 2 or 3, sometimes after 5 or 6. But it does happen...and after that it's relatively smooth sailing. Great raid all around imo.

The main difficulty is the second boss because it requires you to stay with your alliance. It's really easy to fail the dps check at the end when the alliances are split for each add, if people aren't in their right spot. You also risk wiping an entire alliance if you're at the wrong marker and you get the stack marker for your group. A single alliance can't survive two stack markers on top of each other.

Normally there's no problem with staying next to your alliance marker the entire time but this fight doesn't allow that. You're constantly moving around the field to dodge towers, hammers and kill adds. This means you have to remember to always go back to your marker and that's something people forget to do.
