It's always prime time somewhere.
Either you and I have different understandings of 'late PST' or your math is off. Midnight PST is 4pm in Japan and 5pm in eastern Austrailia. If it starts at that time and runs 4-8 hours, it'll be down for either most or all evening primetime for both areas. But I guess that's okay as long as it doesn't inconvenience you, right?
Maintenance downtimes are and always have been a fact of life for any online game. They always have and always will be at the same time that someone, somewhere would like to be online and playing. If you happen to get the short straw, you can either put on your grown-up undies and deal with it or cry and moan about why you deserve to play more than someone (or anyone) else.
Take a wild guess about which option this thread is listing toward.
Most maintenance is usually starts around 9-11PM PST not Midnight so ends around 7pm JST right around when prime time JST starts.
Oh and for years I had to play late EST due to work and never complained about the maintenance times as it made sense so dont bring up that crap about being upset when it inconveniences me.
