Really afraid SE is going to think things are fine because of the amount of WHM/SCHs

IMO the class team don't have as good as grasp of the game as one would expect. It seems to be a bunch of guys who barely play the game throwing ideas at a wall and seeing what sticks. Sometimes they get it very right (RDM is a great example of this) but over the last few years they've generally gotten it rather wrong more often than not. So many of the blunders they've made were obvious to anyone who actively played those jobs at a progression standard. The ongoing saga with tank stats is a great example of this, as is the way the SMN nerfs completely axed SCH's gameplay in 4 man content. I could go on and on with abilities and issues over the last 2 years where it just takes one glance at a tooltip to know that it's not going to work.

Yoshida needs to suck it up and consider hiring a couple of choice people out of the JP raiding scene to inject a bit of common sense and fresh blood into the team imo. It worked wonders for Blizzard during WoW's early days.

I'd like to see the qualifications of the people who are pitching ideas about healer class balance. I can't fathom that even a single one plays any of the three classes. I'd love to see YoshiP actually play a healer in a serious content. He's so out of touch with the game, it's almost amazing.

I would be in favor of a public testing server or closed betas for major job changes, of course inviting select people who have a solid understanding of the jobs to give comment and work with the teams. I have seen people get mad or upset at nerfs but i've never seen it quite like here and I suspect it's for a good reason, as I feel the same as most.

I feel there is too much arrogance in the development team to do that. Look at how long it took them to even make AST playable then they overbuffed it. I have no faith in their iterative process at this point. SCH will have to be far behind for them to even remotely consider buffing them. Maybe after we buff Cure, Benefic, Benefic 2 and Cure 2 some more we'll see an even larger gap in HPS.

It's my hopes that with the recent changes, which were fairly large, they will be watching to see what needs adjustment. It seems like they have no problem letting paying players be the guinea pigs. My suggestion would be is to find a group for raids because in the party finder, you see a lot of AST/AST for healing roles. It's painfully obvious and I'd be extremely surprised if SE didn't take notice of this. We wait and see I suppose.

Wanted to add to this and say from what I've gathered, the optimal combination is AST/WHM as they compliment each other well and WHM has the damage to contribute.

I now play Bard . I have been a sch since launch, I will get sch to 70 but only when Bard is completely Geared. I really miss playing my sch . Lets see what they will do to fix it.

I've complained since the very start about how limiting AST's healing design is from a balance perspective. It heals like SCH and WHM so it will always be compared to them in a vacuum. I would have loved to see it be more like a HoT healer a la Resto Druid from WoW, as HoTs seem to fit a time/space healer theme perfectly. Increasing strength of HoTs, increasing duration, ability to make the HoT heal fully frontloaded with a cooldown, ability to spread HoTs to others, etc. So many possible avenues and the devs just crapped out this lazy sun/moon system because they were too afraid to rethink their fight designs.

I dont remember gravity having a dot either. it was just a cool looking aoe.

Gravity had no additional effect whatsoever. It just was an aoe damage spam move. Not sure where you all are getting this stuff from.
