I do not really care how corny they look, as long as they are not as strong as the Ifrit weapons.
Same Damage (base) Different Stats 9 times out of 10 it will be this.. if weapons keep getting stronger.. things will be too easy to take down at our capped level..

Personally I'm hoping the stats are comparable in magnitude, but specialize in another category. For instance, the Ifrit weapons are all about pure offensive power - making the mage weapons and the sword not as desirable.
Which shows how crap the coding/engine/whatever is for FFXIV, I remember reading about Make a Wish getting a sick kid in to the WoW dev team to design and make a weapon, only took an hour or so.
They need to put armor in instead of another set of weapons >< Armor is what I find myself lacking..its just the same ugly gear lol. I thought the weapons from the moogle thing would turn out nice...but they kind of dissapoint me sadly. :( Nothing really epic about them...they remind me of rewards we get from a seasonal event.
Don't get me wrong I love moogles and stuff but they just come off as rushed. Hopefully they will rethink this maybe add some armor and redesign these weapons...but then again who am I fooling...I doubt they will heh.
Armour from Primals is a bit tricky, for content and re-playability it's great. You'd have people doing all Primals to get individual pieces for all their classes..cosmetically..not so much, you'd have a lot of mix-matched skittle players running around with glowing red Ifrit weapons, white/purple Moogle Helms/gloves, Green Garuda Boots/Chests, etc.
