Not talking about procs from a BLM; I'm aware that using them on a BLM runs a risk of not only a DPS loss, but can result in a loss of Enochian if you're not paying attention.

Also, a BLM's casts line up with their cooldowns, unlike a BRD, but having more potencies and buffs to increase their damage. BLM has never wanted for damage, but BRD has generally been on the lower end of the stick in terms of DPS.

Right, because a comparison for an entire class is valid against your longest cast that you use only when you have swiftcast and convert on a single target. You're also not taking into an account for when the server tick is, otherwise you run into stutter stepping still interrupting your cast on a BRD. A BLM's cast times are high enough that you probably won't run into that issue, but to say it won't happen is folly, as is to completely ignore that simple fact.

Except BRDs aren't on the lower end of the stick in terms of DPS. They weren't in 2.X. They aren't in 3.X. Aside from a few lulls (where it wasn't so much that BRD was bad, MCH was just better), BRD has always been one of the best jobs in terms of DPS.

Alright, for that I will relent. I'm biased since I appear to run into worse BRDs than most of the other classes.

I was BRD main and as soon as I unlocked WM. I hated it, for 2 days. Now i am over it. Started raiding with BRD and enjoy it so much.
Then switched to MCH because I wanted to main all physical ranged jobs. (kind of like how healers & tanks play the other 2 jobs).

It is not like you move a lot while not having WM on.. you are standing sill. With or without a cast bar.

No auto attacks? BRD doesn't need them.
MCH? They stance dance after using all their oGCDs.

Thanks to the cast bar BRD can go Crit > Skill speed and not worry about TP.
If cast bar is removed then BRD will go Crit > Determination (like MCH).

Doesn't really make the jobs unique because then they will have almost the same BiS? Just different weapons.

Effect ends upon executing 2 weaponskills.

Gauss Barrel Effect: Weaponskills will have no cast time.


Their 1 > 2 > 3 combo prcos results in no cast time thanks to GB effect. (ammos give you 100% proc to the next skill combo).

Notice in this video there are only 3 cast bars at the begging of their opener till the dummy health reaches 75%.

And because GB increases damage by 30%. They had to give the same damage buff to BRD.

Most of the players are complaining that they can't jump around like flees anymore, thats their main reason for the hate. You don't have any issues with movement on a BRD if you play with WM or how do you think BRD players do content with heavy movement mechanics? If needed you can even stance dance like many classes have to do too. And it is for sure that a good BRD will always do more dps with WM up than without, especially if he knows how to stance dance.

And you don't really compare a skill of a class with potions and buff food do you?

Hm, I am fine with bowmage (even if using bloodletter is super akward in some cases), but I wouldnt mind if they changed it or removed it....
What I do wish is MORE SONGS for bard and more song abilitys. I started playing brd because its a BARD and not just a guy with a bow.
Its disappointing that we dont have a bigger selection for songs which buff our party. Maybe we could even get songs which do dmg who knows! I wanna be a bard.

People like to pretend they were running all around dodging stuff before WM, but they weren't. I still see bards who never move in low level roulette, and i often see bards who stop attacking when they move in low level roulette. They're still pretty mobile even with WM, as their cast times aren't as long.

It makes way more sense that you aim first before shooting for more powerful attacks.

With how simple stats already are they could pretty much all be compounded into just 2 stats. Attack power and defence power.

Because 90% of them are useless for most jobs. It's just bang on whatever the highest I lively you have for the slot is and go.

The only exception is accuracy which they're on about removing. So gear could just have 2 stats.. Attack power and defence power. If all the useless stats were removed thats all that wpuld be left and It wouldn't make any difference..

Swapped a 230 necklace for a 250 one. Lost 60 crit gained 50 details. Impact on my job. Zero. Because the secondaries mean nothing. The extra primaries are all that matter.

More on top though I really hope they scrap minuet or change it drastically. I still like an idea that was suggested ages ago. Where it should simply be a stacking buff. Stand still and you gain stacks and your attack power builds up. Maybe like 3% per gcd upto the maximum stacks. Move and you lose stacks.

So if you only take 1 or 2 steps you.may only lose 1 or 2 stacks but if you run around like a headless chicken you'll lose them all.

So much hate for WM/GB... Makes me wish that it had been there since level 1. But, I suppose it's to be expected. People complain about Enochian, and Blood of the Dragon too. Always seems to be "But muh level 50 playstyle!" News Flash. We're not 50 anymore. Things have changed. ALL of the DPS got new class redefining abilities. Not just Bard/Machinist. Monks now have Chakras to manage while not able to hit the boss, Summoners have Dreadwyrm Trance. Ninjas can refresh their buff with a combo, instead of burning a Mudra. Black Mages have Enochian. Dragoons got Blood of the Dragon. Bard and Machinist are not special. They got adjustments as well. Either you like it, or you don't. And I'm sorry if you don't like it, but this is the way things are now. Bards and Machinists cast. And it's perfectly fine, once you actually figure out how to work with it, instead of covering your ears whenever someone tries to tell you that, and screaming "I DON'T LIKE IT! I DON'T LIKE IT!"

MCH here. I think the cast bar for this job in particular works just fine. I can still maneuver as long as I learn the boss mechanics and know how to time my casts. Not to mention all you do technically cast is Split Shot, and then Hot Shot+Lead Shot every 30sec.

I can understand that the WM doesn't work as well for BRD, which I don't think needs to go away, it only needs to be readjusted so it doesn't feel so clunky on the job.

Adding a cast bar to abilities actually required BRD's increase their skill level and actually take more consideration to their placement. BRD use to be the go to job for players during ARR because learning it was easy and did not take much to learn the rotation in comparison to other jobs and you had to take no consideration to your environment to the extent a melee or magic caster does. Adding WM actually now actually puts you in line with other jobs in terms of a skill roof.

On MCH I love that I have to take consideration to what is around me, time my shots right around the boss mechanics, and be as efficient as possible in the process.

If anything the support abilities on both jobs should be better balanced out.
