If you have over 42 interactive items, all of the items in your house will vanish. You walk up, they appear. You walk away, they're gone. It's really too bad considering most of these interactive items don't even need to be interactive anymore.
It's called item culling, and it's pretty bad. Housing needs a very big update in this regards.
I agree, some use for them after level 50 would be nice. We have all of them in our FC house and it's a shame they are of no benefit to most of our crafters.
You know... that idea to allow for "De-synth" buff when you reach "Endgame" (currently 60, but soon will be 70)
Is not a bad way to convert the usage to the "next phase" of training on crafting.
Surprised we got 5 pages into the thread with no one bringing this up yet.
When crafting tables were first introduced to the game, they only provided buffs to level 40 and below. When HW came out is when SE raised the limit on that to level 50, and we will likely see the existing crafting tables boosted to level 60 after Stormblood is officially launched.
The current tables will only be catch up item, as making them truly useful for the current levels of crafting in the game would cause rioting over SE limiting the number of tables a house/apt could have. Also making tables useful for current expansion recipes would make crafting anywhere other the privacy of a furnished abode less than optimal. Less people crafting near marketboards, the Vath vendor, or any random gathering point in the wilderness where you collected that final ingredient means a slightly emptier, less alive feeling for the games (already lacking) open world. It would also feel like a punishment to socially reclusive people who enjoy crafting but have no desire to join an FC or purchase an apartment.
What SE could do however, is introduce new furnishings for current crafts, that would be unrestricted in furnishing allowance. Or create a specialized area of the game that would improve crafting stats just for being there...
BUT what I really think SE WANTS us to do, is use those food buffs, FC buffs, and pentameld V's on tools and chest pieces. They've made sure to give us everything we need to adequately craft at endgame, and given us tables to help undergeared people get up to the current.
The tables don't have to provide a buff to make your crafting easier, though. Something like reduced durability loss or Careful Synth is more of a QoL thing than anything.
