This made me so happy. The housing plans simply floored me. I love how he really listens to the community's ideas.

I knew it! I knew Dragoons will be launching out combos.
And the Summoning Primal thing. I think people might abuse it to make money.. I really hope they think this through carefully.
Overall, fantastic interview.
What worries me if that there are whole servers full of linkshells that might be constantly competing for the primals, if the demand for the hardest battles with the best rewards make (gear and/or story) is to have a primal on your team in order to succeed then there's going to be a massive demand.
Yoshida stated that it's supposed to be an OP feature. So encounters aren't going to be balanced according to their usage. Either way, you have earned the right to use the Primal, so it's not like you are merely pressing the iWin button. Add some sort of a [Primal'd] achievement so everyone knows you didn't beat the encounter the "traditional way" and there will be no problems whatsoever.
I'm pretty glad that with the introduction of summons they finally seem to be adding some endgame PvE competition to the game.
Anyway, Yoshida's stance in what makes an FF "an FF" is pretty sad.
The only way to do this is to have your game be a mish-mash of everything FF games have introduced before?
It's as if he is trying to make this game into such an epitome of FINAL FANTASY that it is bleeding out of our ears.
Even though the very core of FINAL FANTASY game is that it can stand out on it's own, and not take all its ideas from the previous entries of the series. Yet here we have Crystal Towers, Materia systems, TRADISHUNAL Jobs (from FFV era nonetheless), what's next? The game is set to be the least mainline FINAL FANTASY entry in the franchise with the way everything is borrowed from every other game in the series. Soon it doesn't even deserve the XIV in its name. The milking of the franchise is in pretty epic proportions here. We are about to rival Dissidia soon enough.
I'm less worried about the "what" than I am worried about the "when".
Up to now, most of it is just castles built of mist and clouds.
Let's hope the winds don't blow too strong in 2012.
I understand what you're saying, but I do think you're missing the point. When he says he wants things to be more Final Fantasy, he isn't talking about borrowing the Crystal Tower, he's talking about, for example, giving summons the epicness they deserve... I think.
