"Final Fantasy XIV and PSO2 Collaboration Announced"

I was just about to post about this! I'm pretty happy for it, hopefully we get something as well, but if not, I'm cool with that too.

I was telling my fiance that I could see us getting a FATE for it. Imagine walking through the hinterlands or something and all of a sudden "Special FATE Joined! "When Darkness Falz"

As catchy as Senbonzakura is, the point he was trying to make is, Miku isn't exactly related to PSO in the way you think it is. She's developed by, owned, and licensed through Crypton. Not Sega. So if SE and Sega have a collaberation for FFXIV and PSO2, don't expect Hatsune Miku to suddenly appear in the amphitheatres.

A dark falz trial would be incredibly epic.
It wouldn't make any real sense but man, it would put me on the feels trip for sure

So first I get to kill him with my old shiny Conqueror axe, and now I get to kill him with my brand new Austere Calibur on PSO2.

Oh man am I looking forward to this.

Sadly though, no matter what we get, it'll be the closest the West will ever get to a PSO2 release game-wise (There's already talks about the Anime of the game being brought over to the West).

Unfortunately SEGA of Japan are for the most perceived as "isolationists". They had no idea how to properly manage the home video game business and for the most almost always at odds with SEGA America. Especially when SEGA US was doing it better than SEGA Japan. Like some other japan game companies most of their cash came from Arcades and Pachinko. Sega has not been involved much outside Asia and the last decade aside from beating Sonic with a cane until they got the franchise moving again. Only last year they apologized about making sub par with titles and are now trying to refocus into mobile gaming/ports.

I don't recall when Sega released anything that wasn't trying to be Sonic the Hedgehog or another best of collection. Phantasy Star Online 2 was rumored to be imported to the west back in 2012 since they made an English patch. Howeverthey began blocking IP's from outside the region. There's rumored to be private servers for folks outside Asia but officially the English version is said to only be playable in south east asia as I have not heard of AsiaSoft lifting the IP ban since that day last year. Overall I just gave up hoping on it, even though they finally made a PS4 port, its Japan only.

Back to the topic the cross over.. I noticed FFXIV, PSO2, and the DQ title on a slide last year briefly during the pre stream for the anniversary. It looks like it was referring to that PSO and they got an Odin boss fight. Given how Dragon Quest was more available in the US. We still had a DQ online event in FFXI despite being a commonly recognized slime and one NPC in two cut scenes. Given the lack of anything new in recent years. I wouldn't be surprised if we had a seasonal-ish event looking for that penguin mob from PSO1 or a region fate cycle like Lightning Returns. I'm not holding my breath as all content is the same and well get whatever the folks in Japan are getting. Square doesn't seem like the type to block content and events based on region unless it was a negotiation with Sega to keep it on the Japan servers. Assuming there is an event in FFXIV at all it'll also be the closest thing the west will get to an official western PSO2 port or maybe a tie-in to the anime.

If it's a fate or quest it had better be called Toward The Future, it had better play the Burning Rangers ost during the fight and The Whole New World upon completion, I better see the cake sisters and we better get a Tsumikiri J Sword, Guld Milla, Yasminkov 9000m, Striker of Chao, Chameleon Scythe, The Sigh of a God, Angry Fist, Akikos Frying Pan, Demolition Comet, Aura Field, Chu Chu Fever, Rappy minion, rappy mount, rappy furniture, pso music orchestration and a damn Red Ring.

And why things from a game that doesn't allow western players from US and EU join? They ban western IPs, you have not acccess to the game client (not legally). You cannot play unless you are in SEA area. They can go to hell. I don't want shit form AsiaSoft or SEGA which still uses region lock. Announced a western verson... on 2013. Delayed till when? Who knows. Western players are not welcome to the game.
