Wildstar is fine, it had issues at launch (there's a LOT more going on under the surface in that game than you'd think) but with the F2P Transition, the game had a few hiccups, but works great now. It's fun, far more involved combat than FFXIV, has one of the best F2P markets around (along with Tera & B&S). It's just very different from FFXIV (aesthetics to gameplay, the dungeons and raids themselves are FAR more challenging than FFXIV).
What would make me unsub (at least for a bit) is continuing the limited updates. 2 dungeons and 1 raid (well 1.5 if you count the new ballad) doesn't bode well for retention in the long run. I think SE needs to get out of the mid 2000's era thinking of design and get out of the Archaic Theme-Park limitations.
I'm not sure a move to F2P would make me leave as it would really depend on how it was handled. I have played LoTRO after it went F2P and I've played GW2, which has no sub fee, and the issues I had with both are not really tied to the cash shop or the fact that they are not sub games.
Personally, I'd probably go if the game became all about PvP or hardcore grouping/raiding. That's not my kind of content so if it was all there was to do, I'd leave because I'm not going to spend my time/money on a game focused on content I don't enjoy.
I don't think any change would make me instantly end my sub. I've invested enough in the game that I would at least see how everything works out, even if they would make getting BiS from cash shop a thing. I'm not ready to just up and dump a game and all the friends that I have invested so much emotionally in.
I have thought of something legitimate that while highly unlikely, would definitely make me unsub. Splitting PC and Console players onto separate data centers. There was some sort of thread going around earlier that suggested such a thing, and while the OP was shot down quite heavily, if that ever came to pass, I'd say goodbye to XIV quite swiftly. Part of what I love most about this game is that it's cross platform, which greatly expands the number of players you can meet and interact with. Out of all the people I play with on a regular basis in game, only two or three at most are PS4 players like myself.....
One word: Orcs
A PK system in any form.
Put up with that shit for 8 years, never again.
